PSSI Vice President Zainudin Amali admitted that he is working with the Indonesian Embassy in Portugal. The big boss of Indonesian football wants to connect with the Portuguese Football Federation soon to be able to schedule a friendly match with the Portuguese team. PSSI's goal is to invite C. Ronaldo to play in the archipelago.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Zainudin Amali said: "We are working so that the Indonesian team can play a friendly match with the Portuguese team, before Ronaldo retires. Of course, this friendly match will take place during FIFA Days."
FIFA Days is the time when national teams can play with their strongest squads because FIFA requires clubs to release players for this period. There are a total of 8 FIFA Days each year. Therefore, the Indonesian team has more opportunities to face the Portuguese team.
"We have eight opportunities every year to find national teams to play friendly matches. At least, Indonesia has played Argentina. Now, we want to meet the Portuguese team," added Zainudin Amali.
The unfortunate thing for the Indonesian team was that they did not get to play with Lionel Messi during the recent FIFA Days. The Argentine striker only played against Australia in China, before returning to Argentina to rest, instead of flying to Indonesia with the whole team.
Therefore, Indonesia is determined to invite the Portuguese team and Ronaldo to witness one of the best players of all time playing here. CR7 is no stranger to the Asian football environment when he is playing for Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr Club.
In addition, the PSSI Vice President also stated the ambition of Indonesian football when he said: "We want to invite teams like Morocco, Brazil, Spain and France. However, this is not an easy task at all."
