Although the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to launch next September, there are already a lot of leaks about these devices.
Changing the design of the rear camera cluster, upgrading the front camera, the A19 Pro chip, or redesigning Dynamic Island... are known to be features that promise to bring a bright appearance to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Aluminum frame
The iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to have an aluminum frame, instead of the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, or stainless steel like the models from iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro.
The back of the device may feature a “part aluminum, part glass” design. The frame is also likely to feature a combination of aluminum and titanium.
Rectangular camera cluster
According to a recent leak, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are said to feature a "larger, rectangular camera cluster" made of aluminum.
There are conflicting opinions as to how the lenses will be arranged on the new iPhone, which could either remain triangular or be rearranged horizontally or vertically.
Some rumors suggest that Apple will change the rear camera cluster design to a horizontal bar for the new iPhone Pro line, but according to Macrumors' source, the iPhone 17 Pro will continue to use the traditional triangular camera cluster design.
A19 Pro Chip
The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to use Apple's next-generation A19 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC's third-generation 3nm process.
As usual, the new chip will bring improvements in performance and power efficiency over current iPhone models.
Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip
Leaked news suggests that at least one iPhone 17 model will be equipped with a Wi-Fi 7 chip designed by Apple itself, instead of supplied by Broadcom.
However, another report says the chip will still support Wi-Fi 6E like the iPhone 16 models.
24MP front camera
All four iPhone 17 models are said to feature an upgraded front camera with a resolution of 24MP, compared to the 12MP front camera on the iPhone 16 models.
Up to now, Apple has often "favored" upgrading the rear camera more, but this time selfie enthusiasts can celebrate with "selfies" with quality equal to the rear camera.
48MP telephoto camera
The iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to feature a 48MP telephoto camera, an upgrade from the 12MP telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro models.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the telephoto camera on the iPhone 17 Pro Max will use a 48MP, 1/2.6-inch sensor, an improvement over the 12MP 1/3.1-inch of the iPhone 16 Pro.
12GB RAM
Initial information about the increased RAM to 12GB would be reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro Max only, but it was later expanded to the iPhone 17 Pro as well.
This upgrade will help improve the performance of Apple Intelligence features and multitasking capabilities. All four current iPhone 16 models only have 8GB of RAM.
Smaller Dynamic Island for iPhone 17 Pro Max
One rumored change exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max is that the Dynamic Island will be significantly narrowed, thanks to Apple's adoption of metalens technology for the Face ID system. This information comes from expert Jeff Pu.
Metalens technology allows Apple to reduce the size of the Face ID system without reducing usability, while expanding the display space on the screen.
The new iPhone series will be launched in September 2025, according to Apple's annual tradition. The 2025 iPhone models are expected to include: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
