Syria's SANA news agency reported that the Israeli air strikes were carried out in the early morning of October 22, marking the third attack in 10 days.

An airstrike on Damascus airport killed one worker and injured another. Meanwhile, Reuters quoted a statement from the Syrian Meteorological Administration saying at least two of its employees working at Damascus airport were killed.
The runways at both airports were damaged, forcing all incoming and outgoing flights to be canceled or diverted to the airport in Latakia. Syria’s official notification to the international aviation authority said the runways would not be usable for at least another two days.
Israel attacks after first aid arrives in Gaza
The Israeli military has not commented on the incidents. Both airports have been attacked several times in the past year, reportedly to prevent Iran from transferring weapons to its proxies in the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon.
There have been concerns that Hezbollah - an Iran-backed group with an arsenal of tens of thousands of rockets, missiles and drones - could open a new front against Israel as it battles Hamas.

The exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel since October 7 has left seven Israeli soldiers and 19 Hezbollah fighters dead. The violence has also claimed the lives of several civilians and journalists, including a Reuters reporter.
This is the worst escalation of violence on the Israel-Lebanon border since the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel conflict. Reuters sources said Hezbollah wanted to distract Israeli forces but keep the situation at a level that would not trigger a war.

Flares at the Israel-Lebanon border on October 21
The Israeli military warned on October 22 that Hezbollah's attacks were dragging Lebanon into a war from which it would gain nothing and lose much, according to AFP.
"Hezbollah is playing a very, very dangerous game. They are escalating the situation. We are seeing more and more attacks," said Israeli military spokesman Jonathan Conricus.
