Connecting to build new tour routes in new spaces

After the merger, localities will have more diverse tourism resources. This is also an opportunity for travel agencies to survey, build and renew tourism products and linked product routes.

For more than 3 months now, tourism and travel businesses in Can Tho have organized many survey trips and built famtrips to re-evaluate tourism resources and products after the merger. On this basis, businesses have gradually reoriented to renew their product systems and at the same time build new tours.
Specifically, the famtrip "Down the Hau River - Looking for Tay Do" last September with the participation of more than 200 tourism businesses nationwide to Can Tho opened up many opportunities to build new product routes.

After experiencing the activities in the famtrip, Ms. Ngo Huynh Trang, Director of Ca Mau Eco tourism area, said: “Can Tho tours have the typical characteristics of the West. From people, cuisine to culture, all have the soul of the Southwest region”.

Meanwhile, Mr. Truong Van Hien, Director of Phuong Nam Travel Service Company Limited, said: “This is a meaningful famtrip. We have had very impressive experiences with new products and services. The important thing is that after the program, there will be travel connections from the North, Central and South to bring tourists to Can Tho.”

A member of the famtrip organizing committee, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoang, Deputy Director of My Khanh Eco-tourism Co., Ltd., affirmed: “Famtrip is an opportunity for businessmen in the tourism industry to connect products and services. More importantly, we meet to exchange opportunities for cooperation, to join hands to promote the development of the local tourism industry in particular and Vietnam in general.”

In fact, to create local tourism products and services, destinations and businesses need to join hands and join forces. Ms. Nguyen The Ngoc, Director of Ngan Long Home & Camp - Con Son, shared: “We cannot do it alone but need the cooperation of many sides. With each product we build, we have the cooperation of the local people, such as “The death anniversary on the islet” with the participation of the homeowner, as well as the women who specialize in making traditional dishes in the village. In addition, tourism and travel businesses are the ones who experience and introduce the products to tourists. Therefore, the tourism community cooperates and supports each other to do tourism.”

According to Ms. Nguyen The Ngoc, the famtrip journey "Down the Hau River - Looking for Tay Do" gathered 16 local tourism businesses to join forces to organize, each unit providing products and services, sharing responsibility to promote the best experience for participating units. From the experiential activities "Death anniversary on the islet", "Returning to Tay Do to become a landlord" to transportation services, accommodation, restaurants, souvenir shopping destinations... are all meticulous, high-quality and unique.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Tran Thanh Thai, Director of Mekong Smile Tourism Trading Joint Stock Company, said: “Can Tho City currently has diverse tourism resources and more open development space. Therefore, tourism businesses must not only change themselves to adapt but also join forces together.”

Specifically, if in the past, tourism products in Can Tho were only short-term, 1-2 days, the overnight stay index was very low; but with the resources and open space as it is now, it is possible to extend tour routes from 3-4 days, or even longer. Building a chain of experiential products in that journey requires the cooperation of many local units.

Accordingly, Mr. Tran Thanh Thai, Director of Mekong Smile Tourism Trading Joint Stock Company, also proposed to have a typical tour itinerary, focusing on the highlights of Can Tho and promoting this product. Travel agencies and tourism businesses should also consider this itinerary as a land tour (a typical local experience service package) to introduce to tourists, thus gradually contributing to creating a change for Can Tho tourism in the new context.

Landtour is considered as a common identity for local tourism, such as "Heritage Journey" in Da Nang, Hue or landtours on the Northwest, Northeast routes... Building a landtour often requires the joint efforts of many units, from destinations, accommodation services, transportation, restaurants to travel and tourism companies. Therefore, the Can Tho tourism business community has been proactively building many famtrip programs as a solution to gradually connect and build chains of products and services that are typical of introducing local tourism, gradually creating a breakthrough for Can Tho tourism.
