Nha Trang City fined the owner of Nha Be restaurant for 3 violations, none of which included "overcharging" as previously reported by tourists.

On April 13, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, issued a decision to sanction administrative violations in the fields of culture and advertising; prices, fees, charges, and invoices for Thanh Suong business household.

Thanh Suong business household was fined a total of more than VND 20.7 million, for 3 violations, including: Not fully displaying the name of the production and business establishment on the signboard in accordance with the business registration certificate (VND 7.5 million); not notifying the content, time, location of advertising, number of billboards, according to regulations (VND 12.5 million) and posting unclear prices causing confusion for customers (VND 750,000).

Nha Trang City People's Committee forced the owner of Nha Be restaurant to remove the signboard and advertising that violates regulations. After 10 days, if the owner of Nha Be restaurant does not comply with the penalty decision, it will be forced to do so.

Regarding the incident, on April 12, Mr. Nguyen Sy Khanh, Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, signed an official dispatch assigning the city police to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to investigate and handle individuals who posted false information on the internet, affecting the image and tourism reputation of Nha Trang City.

On April 10, the owner of the Facebook account LTS posted on his personal page: "The story of 3 Chinese people being 'hacked' in the middle of the night in Nha Trang".

Specifically, the LTS account said that on the evening of April 9, his Chinese superior and two friends (also Chinese) went to a seafood restaurant on Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang City, to eat.

When it was time to pay, the three Chinese guests were surprised by the bill of more than 8.7 million VND for nearly 12 kg of various seafood. Before that, these three people had dinner at another restaurant at 9:30 pm.

Specifically, according to the restaurant's bill, 2.8 kg of first-class crab, unit price 1.2 million VND/kg; 2 kg of flash squid, unit price 950,000/kg; 3.5 kg of diamond clams, unit price 420,000/kg; 3.5 kg of sea urchin, unit price 580,000/kg.

The three Chinese guests said they were not given a price quote, nor did they check the weight, they just estimated and ordered. "Ignoring the listed price, we have to accept the price, but 3 people with 11.8 kg of seafood, is that realistic?" Mr. S. wrote.

On April 12, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City came to inspect and work with the owner of Nha Be seafood restaurant.

Regarding the accusations on social networks, Mr. Nguyen Thai Quoc, Head of the interdisciplinary inspection team, said that after verification, the restaurant posted prices and the scales were still under inspection. "Initially, there was no evidence of 'overcharging', but we cannot determine whether the amount of food was large or small because the evidence is no longer available," Mr. Quoc said.
