On the morning of November 27, at the Conference Center (Nguyet Hoa Ward), the 1st Congress of the Association of Patriotic Buddhist Monks (ĐKSSYN) of Vinh Long Province, term 2025 - 2030, officially opened in a solemn and united atmosphere. This is an important event for monks and Khmer people in the province, marking a new step of development of the Association in the period of innovation and integration.

Attending the congress were comrades: Kim Ngoc Thai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Kim Ruong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Thach Thi Thu Ha - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; Kien Banh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors; former provincial leaders of different periods and 320/328 official delegates representing 156 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Most Venerable Thach Sok Xane - Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Vinh Long province, President of the Provincial Association of Khmer Buddhist Sangha, affirmed: The history of the Khmer Theravada Buddhism tradition in the South, including Vinh Long province, has always been closely associated with the cultural and spiritual life of the Khmer people. Khmer monks and people were soon enlightened about the revolution and actively participated in patriotic movements since the 1930s.
In particular, in 1965, under the leadership of the Southwest Region Party Committee, the Patriotic Buddhist Monks Association was established - the predecessor of the current Vinh Long Province Buddhist Monks Association. The Association not only takes care of the rights of monks and Khmer people to study and practice their religion, but also actively accompanies local patriotic movements.

During the period of 2023 - 2025, the Association has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize many training courses for the Abbot, Board of Directors, monks and Khmer Buddhists on the Law on Beliefs and Religions; resolutions related to ethnic and religious affairs.
Khmer pagodas in the province are also guided to open classes on doctrine, Pali - Khmer, Khmer language, attracting thousands of monks and Khmer children to participate in studying. In addition, the Association supports pagodas to properly organize traditional festivals, making an important contribution to preserving and promoting Khmer cultural identity.
Venerable Thach Sok Xane emphasized: This congress needs to have a positive change in thinking, and needs to fully understand the position, role and tasks of the Vietnam Women's Union in the period of innovation and integration of the country.
Mobilize the strength of all members, unite and wholeheartedly build a strong Association and contribute to training a core team of intellectuals, monks and Khmer people to successfully carry out the tasks and goals set by the Congress. At the same time, the Association continues to care for the legitimate rights of monks and Khmer people, aiming for a life of "good life, good religion", implementing the motto "Dharma - Nation - Socialism".
In addition to evaluating the strengths and overcoming the limitations of the past term, the Congress also considered supplementing the draft Charter and selecting personnel for the new Executive Committee with sufficient virtues and capacity to lead the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Congress for the new term.

Immediately after the opening speech, the Congress carried out the following key contents: evaluating the results of activities for the 2023 - 2025 term; determining the direction of activities for the 2025 - 2030 term; discussing and voting to approve the draft Charter of the Association; approving the list of candidates for the Executive Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term; the new Executive Committee introduced itself and made determination; approving and voting on the Congress Resolution.
