On the afternoon of November 22, at October 30 Square, Ha Long Ward, Quang Ninh Province, the opening ceremony of the 10th Ha Long Heritage International Marathon 2025 took place. Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Rachid Ben Meziane, representative of the World Athletics Federation for the 2024-2028 term, Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Running (AIMS); Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh Province, and the community of international and Vietnamese athletes participating in the race.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said that in recent years, Quang Ninh province has always paid attention to and directed the development of culture, sports and tourism and considered this an important driving force in the human development strategy, building a civilized, dynamic and internationally integrated living environment, while at the same time linking Sports with Tourism to create unique products of international stature.
The year 2025 marks the 10-year journey of the Ha Long Heritage International Marathon held in Quang Ninh. From a sporting event associated with promoting Ha Long Bay, the tournament has now become a prestigious brand with international stature, awarded the "World Label" by the World Athletics Federation, affirming the professional quality and increasingly high position of Quang Ninh sports on the international marathon map.
“This year’s tournament brings together nearly 15,000 athletes, including more than 3,200 international athletes from 70 countries, along with tens of thousands of tourists, coaches, and accompanying relatives. This is not only an impressive number, but also reflects the attraction, trust, and love that friends around the world have for Quang Ninh,” Mr. Dung shared.
According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, in the morning of the same day, the international Elite athletes were officially present in Ha Long to get acquainted with the race track, interact with representatives of the Vietnamese running community before officially entering the competition day tomorrow morning. These athletes with outstanding achievements will compete in the Full Marathon distance of 42.195km, promising to bring breathtaking acceleration on the Heritage Road.
The 2025 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon will take place from November 21-23 with the official race day on Sunday. This is not just a sporting event, but also an opportunity for each athlete and runner to proudly stride on heritage-rich running routes and enjoy the beautiful nature of Ha Long Bay - where every step is not only to conquer passion, but also to contribute to affirming the position of a Vietnamese marathon that has reached the world.
The 2025 Ha Long International Marathon will have 4 distances: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km with the starting and finishing points at the Quang Ninh Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Center, Tran Quoc Nghien Street, Ha Long Ward, Quang Ninh Province.
