Opening of the 2024 Nam Nhun district swallow-tail boat racing and raft racing tournament

(BLC) - Within the framework of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week of Nam Nhun district in 2024, on the morning of February 23, the People's Committee of Nam Nhun district organized the opening ceremony of the Swallow-tailed boat racing and raft racing festival in 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Mua A Tru - Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Nam Nhun District Party Committee; leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and more than 200 athletes participating in the competition and a large number of people from communes and towns coming to cheer.

This year's Swallow-tailed Boat Racing and Raft Racing Festival has 16 racing teams, including 8 Swallow-tailed boat racing teams and 8 raft racing teams. The Swallow-tailed boat racing also has the participation of guest teams including: Muong Lay town ( Dien Bien province), Quynh Nhai district (Son La province) and Muong Te district.

In the swallow-tail boat racing event, teams will compete in the 1,000m distance and the 300m raft racing event in a timed draw format. After the qualifying round, the 4 teams with the shortest competition times in each event will enter the semi-finals.

The festival is organized to attract the movement of practicing and competing in traditional sports in general and swallow-tail boat racing in particular, with the aim of improving health, building a healthy spiritual and cultural life, contributing to the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho". Through the organization of the festival, it aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values ​​of residents living in the coastal areas of Son La Hydropower and Lai Chau Hydropower, creating a useful playground, enhancing understanding, exchange, solidarity, helping and learning from each other among ethnic groups in and outside the province.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the racing teams entered the competition with exciting races, attracting the audience. The 2024 Nam Nhun District Swallow-tail Boat Racing and Raft Racing Festival is expected to end on February 24.
