Opening of the 2025 National Youth Athletics Championship in Lai Chau

On the afternoon of June 19, in Lai Chau, the 2025 National Youth Athletics Championship officially opened. This is a high-performance sports tournament exclusively for young people organized by the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, the Vietnam Athletics Federation in coordination with Lai Chau province.

Participating in the 2025 National Youth Athletics Championship are 65 high-performance athlete delegations from 63 provinces and cities and 2 sports training centers of the Public Security and Military sectors registered to participate with a total of 968 athletes and coaches.

Athletes will compete for 86 sets of medals in 3 age groups (age group 2012-2013, age group 2010-2011, age group 2008-2009) with events such as: Running, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, walking, triple jump...

Athletes compete in the 2012-2013 men's 600m event.

The Lai Chau province athlete delegation participating in the 2025 national youth athletics championship includes 18 athletes competing in the following events: 600m men, age group 2012-2013; 800m, 3000m women, age group 2010-2011; 800m, 1500m, 5000m women, age group 2008-2009; 400m, 3000m men, age group 2008-2009; relay: 1200m-400m-800m-1600m men's mixed relay women's 4x800m age group 2008-2009; mixed relay 4 distances 1200m-400m-800m-1600m age group 2010-2013.

This is also the first time Lai Chau province has hosted a national high-performance sports tournament. Therefore, to prepare for this tournament, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province has worked with the Vietnam Athletics Federation and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City to support specialized equipment and has prepared all aspects from facilities, fields, equipment to serve athletes to compete for the highest results.

Lai Chau provincial leaders awarded medals to the winning athletes in the men's 5000m race walk.

Along with professional preparations, the Organizing Committee also prepares all aspects of security, health, logistics, etc. to ensure the tournament is successful with the highest professional quality.

The 2025 National Youth Athletics Championships will conclude on June 24.
