Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day received enthusiastic and strong support from the national and international press. Currently, there are 169 international reporters from 39 news agencies and 17 countries; more than 630 reporters from 81 domestic press agencies registered to work at the celebration. Therefore, welcoming and creating conditions for reporters and editors to convey information and images of the ceremony to compatriots nationwide and people around the world is extremely important.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized: The activities of the Press Center play a very important role in the success of press activities at the anniversary. Therefore, relevant departments, branches and units need to coordinate closely and effectively; create the most favorable conditions for press activities; organize for leaders of press agencies, reporters and editors to work most effectively, ensuring continuity during the anniversary.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh said that the Ministry will create all favorable conditions for domestic and international reporters to report on the anniversary and proactively and actively provide information from the Organizing Committee about the anniversary, contributing to the successful organization of the anniversary, while ensuring safety and security.
In addition to the theme "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The strength of great national unity, the desire for peace, national independence and the will to unify the country", other topics that domestic and foreign news agencies and newspapers may be interested in will also be focused on providing information, such as the economic and social development situation, especially the outstanding achievements in the cause of innovation and international integration of Vietnam; introducing the country and people of Vietnam... in order to best attract the attention of the world and enhance Vietnam's prestige in the international arena.
At the opening ceremony of the Press Center, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Post Corporation issued a postage stamp set "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)".
The stamp set includes 2 stamps and 1 block, with the stamp size being 32x43mm, the block being 70x100mm. The stamps have a face value of 4,000 VND and 15,000 VND. The stamp set was designed by artist Nguyen Du (Vietnam Post Corporation).
On this occasion, at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, an exhibition of the front page of April 30 of Nhan Dan Newspaper through the years also took place.
