According to the vote from the American magazine Insider, Mu Cang Chai in Vietnam has been ranked among the most beautiful mountain regions in the world. The American television channel CNBC once rated Mu Cang Chai as one of the most attractive destinations for international tourists in 2020. The famous family travel website Wanderlust Storytellers recently ranked Mu Cang Chai in the first position in the list of 25 destinations in the world with unrealistic beauty. So what does Mu Cang Chai have that makes famous travel media appreciate it so highly?

Located at an average altitude of over 2,000m above sea level, Mu Cang Chai is blessed with cool weather all year round, with an average annual temperature of 19.6 degrees Celsius; the sea of white clouds blends with the illusory fog winding over Khau Pha Pass, this place is often called "the land of clouds, high mountains and deep ravines". Every spring from January to March of the lunar calendar every year, Mu Cang Chai becomes a "cloud hunting paradise" for travel enthusiasts when passing through passes, slopes and mountain peaks. With an area of nearly 83,000 hectares, forests are the strength of Mu Cang Chai with immense primeval forests and rich vegetation...(pages 18, 19).

In particular, likened to "the fingerprints of heaven and earth", the green terraced fields of Mu Cang Chai in the flood season and golden in the ripe rice season are a masterpiece created by the diligence and skillful hands of the local people. In 2019, the Prime Minister signed a Decision to grant a Certificate of National Monument status to the Mu Cang Chai terraced fields. The authors devoted 32 pages of the book to describe and depict in detail and vividly the beauty of terraced fields and rice growing techniques, land cultivation, irrigation systems, farming... At the same time, they lead readers to explore famous landscapes such as Khau Pha pass, Lung Cung peak, Pung Luong peak, "dinosaur spine" in Phinh Ho village, Ta Cua Y valley, Mo waterfall, Pu Nhu waterfall, bamboo forest, flower forest, Lao Chai ancient stone beach...

Along with the beautiful nature are cultural features imbued with national identity. Here, the Mong people account for more than 90% of the population with their own unique customs and practices. Among them, the religious culture associated with terraced fields is a prominent feature. In particular, the art of creating shapes with beeswax on fabric and the art of playing the panpipe of the Mong people have been included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. In addition, costumes, housing, cuisine, traditional crafts... contribute to creating a comprehensive and profound synthesis for the cultural life of the indigenous people.

The harmony between people and nature in Mu Cang Chai makes the authors consider this place to be a "symphony between nature and culture". And when closing the book, readers just want to pack their bags and go!
