The contractor covered the area with anti-skid tarps to minimize the amount of soil and rocks entering people's houses. |
Both short-term and long-term plans are being implemented to ensure the safety of households living near this area. Currently, all the soil and rocks that have fallen onto people's houses have been leveled and collected, so as not to affect the property of households near the project area.
On surrounding roads such as DT 641, DH 33 and some inter-village concrete roads, Tuy An Bac commune authorities have coordinated with construction units to dredge, collect soil and rocks, clear drainage ditches, and ensure traffic safety.

The slope is leveled and drainage ditches are created. |
Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, Deputy Commander of Thang Long Corporation - Joint Stock Company (the construction unit), said: "We have arranged excavators, diggers and workers to work continuously to temporarily fix the problem. In the short term, the slope has been created with drainage ditches and covered with anti-slide tarpaulin, minimizing the amount of soil and rocks that can flow into people's houses. In the long term, the unit will construct a rock gabion wall system to ensure safety for the entire route during the rainy season. The rock gabion wall project is 120 m long, 2 m high, with about 300 rock gabions arranged along the route. When completed, the wall will prevent the risk of landslides, protect the highway foundation as well as the residential area below."

Many houses next to the construction site are at risk of being affected by heavy rain for many days. |
To limit similar incidents, the Department of Construction has requested investors and contractors constructing North-South Expressway component projects through the province to strengthen monitoring of terrain, drainage and slope safety during the rainy season. In addition to urgently repairing existing landslides, units must set up 24/7 rapid response teams in high-risk areas.
The Department of Construction also requires contractors to mobilize maximum manpower and machinery to dig, shovel, transport soil and rocks, dredge drainage ditches and temporary ditches; and reinforce slopes with stone or concrete at key points. Temporary traffic warnings must be complete, with people guiding traffic flow, and absolutely not allowing people to travel in dangerous areas. At the same time, local authorities where the project passes through are also required to increase inspection and supervision of the site. When detecting signs of landslides, they must promptly report to the rapid response team for response measures.
Previously, during the heavy rains that lasted from October 15 to 16, some slopes of the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh project collapsed, causing soil to flow into the houses of four households in Long Binh village, Tuy An Bac commune. Some roads in the commune such as DT 641, DH 33 and concrete, soil and rock roads were washed away by water, affecting traffic participants.
