A delegation from Lao Cai province has just conducted a survey of resettlement sites for people in Nam Tong village, Nam Luc commune and Kho Vang village, Coc Lau commune, Bac Ha district. Accordingly, Nam Tong resettlement area is expected to be located on a high hill, about 4 hectares wide, about 2 km from the old settlement, and can accommodate 70 households with a minimum area of about 300m2 per household. This land has a large area, does not need to be leveled much, is close to a water source, and is convenient for the construction of connecting infrastructure.
The resettlement area for households in Kho Vang is expected to be located on a cinnamon hill, about 2.5 hectares wide, 1 km from the old residence of the people, and can accommodate more than 40 households. The land is located near the old Nam Ton bridge, overlooking the downstream of the Chay River, outside the dangerous landslide area, ensuring long-term residence for the people.

After the survey, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee listened to the opinions of departments, branches, and consulting units to present the plan for measuring and planning resettlement areas, and agreed to choose these two locations. Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong directed relevant departments and branches to work with consulting units to speed up the progress of measuring, planning, and designing housing models and cultural houses suitable to the traditions of the ethnic minorities here. Along with that, mobilize capable enterprises to quickly bring in vehicles and human resources to implement the construction of the site.
The survey work to build transport infrastructure connecting resettlement areas with the existing transport system must also be carried out urgently and synchronously. In addition, related land procedures must also be completed soon. The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the province will pay attention and take care of people so that they can have new accommodation that is better than their old one, and at the same time, he hopes that households will unite, support each other, and help each other overcome difficulties.
Previously, at the meeting of the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on overcoming the damage caused by storm No. 3 in the province, the provincial leaders requested the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and sectors to focus on reviewing all households whose houses were damaged, households living in dangerous areas, areas at risk of landslides, and unsafe areas to arrange temporary accommodation for people to ensure that all people have a place to stay. In the immediate future, review and arrange concentrated accommodation for people at cultural houses, community houses, and relatives' houses; develop plans to build temporary houses, tent houses, and iron-frame houses to arrange accommodation for people during the time when they have not yet had time to arrange permanent settlement.
Assess, plan, and relocate areas at risk of landslides to quickly evacuate people from dangerous areas, ensuring immediate and long-term stability. In the immediate future, focus on surveying, finding locations, and developing reconstruction plans at 03 locations, ensuring the completion of construction and bringing people to live stably before December 31, 2024, including: Lang Nu Village, Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District; Ban Cai Hamlet, Nam Tong Village, Nam Luc Commune, Bac Ha District; Kho Vang Village, Coc Lau Commune, Bac Ha District. Research and develop a specific mechanism to deploy and implement site clearance and leveling to serve the reconstruction of villages, hamlets, and houses with the fastest progress./.
