During the resistance war, Khanh Binh in general and Vat Lai in particular had an important position, being the "steel base" of An Phu district. This place soon formed a revolutionary base led by the Party, contributing to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945. The resistance war went through two fierce and extremely arduous periods, requiring many blood sacrifices. However, with the Party's correct resistance line, flexibility, creativity, and adaptability to practical circumstances, Khanh Binh Party cell led the people and army of the commune to steadfastly hold their ground; gained the trust, support, and protection of the people, defeated each plot and each attack of the enemy, and protected the Vat Lai base.

According to the History of the Party Committee of Khanh Binh Commune, after 30 years of fighting, the people and army of the commune contributed a lot of blood and sweat: 77 martyrs died on the battlefields, 37 wounded soldiers, 2 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 200 families with meritorious services to the revolution. Khanh Binh Commune was awarded 2 Second-class Liberation Medals, 107 Resistance Medals, 2 First-class Liberation Medals, 1 Second-class Liberation Medal, 42 Resistance Medals; certificates of merit from the Central and the province for many sectors, unions and social organizations. In particular, the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces was awarded by the State to the people and army of the commune, with outstanding achievements in fighting against the US to save the country.

Today, Khanh Binh has a 4.5km border with the Kingdom of Cambodia, the terrain stretches along the Binh Ghi River, Provincial Road 957, convenient for travel and trade. The natural area is 788ha, with 568ha of agricultural land, population density is 873 people/km2. The commune has 4 hamlets: Sa To, Binh Di, Vat Lai, Bung Nho, including 1,950 households, with 6,855 people. On December 31, 2019, the commune met the new rural standards (NTM).

After 5 years of maintaining and improving the quality of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, Khanh Binh commune has achieved remarkable results: Rural traffic infrastructure has been continuously invested and expanded; socio-economic development has been quite good, rural appearance has improved; people's material and spiritual life has been improved; security and order have been maintained, and the political system has become increasingly strong.

Up to now, the commune has completed 19/19 criteria and 75/75 targets for building advanced new rural areas. The total capital for implementation is over 104 billion VND, of which the central and provincial budgets are over 5.7 billion VND; the district and commune budgets are over 12.3 billion VND; enterprises and people contribute over 79.2 billion VND... The highlight in building advanced new rural areas in Khanh Binh commune is that the quality of life of the people has been clearly improved. The average income per capita is over 72 million VND/person/year; the rate of multidimensional poverty has decreased to 21 households, accounting for 2.4%.

Educational facilities have been invested in and built spaciously; the landscape environment is bright - green - clean - beautiful; the level of people's satisfaction with the construction of the new rural area has reached over 97%... "We are determined to promote the great national unity bloc, actively participate in the patriotic emulation movement, contribute to the successful implementation of the task of socio- economic development, building a strong Party and government" - Mr. Tu Hieu (local resident) expressed.

Party Secretary and Chairman of Khanh Binh Commune People's Committee Phan Van Tuong said: "Agricultural production in the commune continues to develop and accounts for a high proportion in the economic structure; services are initially exploited effectively, small-scale industry and trade are gradually developing. Along with that, culture and society are well implemented; economic development is associated with solving social problems; poverty reduction, job creation and social policies are implemented synchronously".

Grassroots democracy is promoted and expanded; administrative procedure reform is strengthened.
