Khanh Hoa authorities have received 5 Bao Dai relic villas, but the enterprise has not yet handed over the land in the relic site, and the project cannot welcome visitors.
The information was stated by Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sports , on the afternoon of June 15, at a meeting organized by the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.
Previously, at the end of May, Khanh Hoa People's Committee reclaimed more than 9,200 square meters of land including 5 Bao Dai relic villas (Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city) to lease to Khanh Ha Investment Joint Stock Company, to hand over to the Monuments Conservation Center for management.
Mr. Thien said that the investor has only returned 5 villas but has not yet handed over the adjacent land around the project. The company still has security guards guarding the entrance to the land, the project gate is still closed, and tourists cannot visit the villas.
Responding to VnExpress , a representative of Khanh Ha Investment Joint Stock Company said that the unit has not yet received a document deciding to reclaim more than 9,200 square meters of land belonging to 5 villas in the province, so there is no specific implementation plan.

Bao Dai villa complex consists of 5 ancient houses named Xuong Rong, Bong Su, Bong Giay, Phuong Vi and Cay Bang, located on Canh Long mountain, Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city, built by the French in 1923. From 1940 to 1945, Emperor Bao Dai often came here for vacation, so the villas were named after him. In October 1995, the buildings were recognized as "Historical and cultural relics and scenic spots".
In August 2013, the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the detailed planning and local adjustment of the land use planning of the Bao Dai Palace relic site. The government assigned 13.6 hectares of land (including 8.9 hectares of Bao Dai Palace relic site and Canh Long Mountain; the remaining area is the sea surface of the national scenic spot Nha Trang Bay) to Khanh Ha Investment Joint Stock Company for the Bao Dai Resort Nha Trang business project.
The five ancient villas mentioned above are all owned by the Bao Dai Nha Trang resort project and the enterprise will renovate them for rent, serving tourism business. The remaining areas of the project will be built with restaurants, conference centers, marinas, hotels for rent, and 36 villas for sale. However, during the implementation process, the project encountered many violations, was administratively fined by the Department of Construction inspectors, and construction has been suspended since 2017 until now.
In January, the investor wanted to return five villas at the Bao Dai Palace relic site for Khanh Hoa province to restore and preserve. The company hoped the province would consider and soon approve the project's construction planning adjustment plan, as the construction suspension for many years had caused losses to the investor.
