On April 28, Ke Go Nature Reserve (Ha Tinh) held an inauguration ceremony for the Temple of Heroic Martyrs after more than two years of construction. The project was implemented by the reserve management board in collaboration with VietnamFinance Investment Magazine with socialized capital.
This is a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), paying tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Ke Go lake area, Libi field airport and transport routes 21 and 22 during the resistance war against the US.
Ke Go Lake was originally a hydraulic structure built during the French colonial period. Later, the lake bed became the site of Vietnam's Libi field airport (the airport was named after a natural stream that flowed through here). Routes 21 and 22 running through Ha Tinh were also once vital transportation routes to support the South.
Due to its important strategic location, this place was heavily bombed many times, especially in the raid on the night of January 7, 1973, which caused many Vietnamese soldiers and youth volunteers to die. Libi airport was under construction at that time.
Many documents claim that the battle on the night of January 7 was one of the last bombings by the US in the North before the Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam was signed (January 27, 1973).
The Temple of Heroes and Martyrs at Ke Go Lake was built in the traditional architecture of traditional Vietnamese spiritual structures, including the main shrine, the Ta Vu House (ritual preparation house), and the Huu Vu House (exhibition house). In the temple grounds, there are two steles engraved with the names and hometowns of 32 martyrs and 30 youth volunteers who sacrificed their lives during the construction of the Libi airport in the past.

The temple is considered a respectful offering of incense to the country's heroes. At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Hoang Anh Minh, Editor-in-Chief of VietnamFinance Magazine, said that the sacrifices of previous generations were the motivation for this unit to complete a large amount of work in the past time.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Party Secretary, Director of Ke Go Nature Reserve Management Board shared: “The heroic martyrs’ temple at Ke Go Lake will be a red address, a place to educate the glorious cultural and revolutionary traditions of the homeland for today’s and future generations. Along with that, this will be a spiritual and ecological destination for tourists from all over the world when coming to Ha Tinh.”
He also said that the management board will continue to improve the system and process of managing and protecting the temple to ensure the best response to the pilgrimage and incense offering needs of a large number of officials and people across the country, creating mechanisms and favorable conditions to be able to transport people to visit, especially during important holidays to best promote the existing values of the temple in particular, and of the Ke Go Nature Reserve in general./.
