Quang Nam effectively promotes village communities in forest protection and management

Specifically, including the community of AGriih village, A Xan commune, Tay Giang district (the area of payment for forest environmental services is 145.38 ha); the community of Can Don village, Cha Val commune, Nam Giang district (the area of payment for forest environmental services is 492.16 ha); the community of Long Son village, Tra Son commune, Bac Tra My district (the area of payment for forest environmental services is 174.16 ha).

In April 2025, the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund organized a conference to deploy “Developing a sustainable forest management plan for the period 2025-2030” in the above mentioned village communities. Attending the conference were representatives of the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund, representatives of the commune People's Committee, local forest rangers, consulting units and representatives of the village People's Committee and the community.

Delegates attending the Conference listened to the staff of the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund and the consulting unit present the content of the implementation of the plan development according to the approved technical outline; the implementation of the plan development requires: Regarding forests, it is necessary to clearly understand the boundaries and scope of land and forest allocation; clearly understand the boundaries of forest types, forest animal and plant resources in the assigned forest area, including precious woods, regenerated trees, medicinal herbs, rare animals that need to be managed, preserved and developed.

Regarding the community, it is necessary to clearly understand the community's capacity, production customs and practices, indigenous knowledge in forest management, agricultural and forestry production under the forest canopy... so that the content of the plan is suitable for the community. At the same time, the plan clearly states the responsibilities of relevant units (local forest rangers, commune People's Committee, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Quang Nam Provincial Fund for Forest Protection and Development) to accompany the community in implementing the plan.

The plan is built as a foundation, with a practical and legal basis for the community to use as a handbook to implement forest management, protection, development, and use with the goal of sustainable development of forest resources, contributing to increasing income for the community, accessing investment capital sources to enrich forests, and forest protection and restoration.

At the conference, the consulting unit and the village community discussed and agreed on the work to be done, the time and method to develop a sustainable forest management plan in each community, ensuring the completion of the proposed plan.
