Vietnam organizes Film Week in Greece for the first time

NDO - On the evening of May 12, in Athens, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece held the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Film Week 2025 in Greece on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Greece diplomatic relations.

Attending the opening ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, representatives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassadors, representatives of embassies of countries in Greece, Greek friends and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Greece.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong said that this is the first time Vietnam has organized a Film Week introducing 9 films and documentaries to the Greek public. Many of the films screened have won domestic and international awards, with content reflecting the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam.

In particular, the 2025 Vietnamese Film Week in Greece will have a screening honoring President Ho Chi Minh on his birthday (May 19) with the film "Ho Chi Minh: Journey to Create Culture and Peace".

In addition, the audience also watched the documentary "Peace Train" produced by Hanoi Radio and Television in April 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, connecting the past with the present through the journey of young people boarding the peace train, going to memory stations to listen to the aspirations of the country from the previous generation.

The feature film “Don’t Burn” was chosen to be shown on the opening night in Athens with Greek and English subtitles, leaving many emotions in the audience on the premiere night.

Vietnam Film Week 2025 will help Greek audiences and international friends better understand Vietnamese cinema, rich in national cultural identity, with a spirit of the times and profound human values.

Vietnam Film Week 2025 is organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Greece, in coordination with the Vietnam Film Institute, Hanoi Radio and Television and Greek partners New Star Art Cinema and Cine Vakoura.

Vietnam Film Week 2025 takes place from May 12-20 in two major cities in Athens and Thessloniki and will continue to be shown in several other cities in Greece in 2025.
