Training on rescue skills, first aid and drowning prevention for rescue forces and staff of Lang Co Resort

Rehearse to be proactive in every situation

Recently, Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team No. 7 under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police in coordination with Lang Co Resort - Ministry of Public Security organized propaganda, training, dissemination of knowledge, rescue skills and drowning prevention for rescue forces and some officers and employees of the unit.

The hypothetical situation is that at around 10am, at the resort's swimming pool, a tourist got a cramp while swimming and drowned. As soon as the incident was discovered, in a short time, the on-site rescue force approached the drowning person and brought him safely to shore. Next, with the skills they had been equipped with, the rescue force and medical staff quickly performed first aid on the victim. After the victim was conscious and could breathe on his own, the rescue force asked for personal information to contact family members for support and care.

Directly participating in the simulated situation of rescuing a drowning person, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Linh, a member of the rescue force of Lang Co Resort - Ministry of Public Security said: In fact, not only from propaganda and training sessions, but rescue work to prevent drowning is carried out regularly and continuously by the unit to ensure the safety of tourists, especially children when they come to swim in the swimming pool and beach in the resort area.

“In addition to training on-site rescue forces, we periodically check rescue vehicles and equipment such as life jackets and life buoys, install water depth warning signs and make loudspeaker announcements to those who cannot swim not to go to deep water areas, and children should wear life jackets and be accompanied by adults,” shared Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Xuan Bau, Director of Lang Co Resort.

Strengthen inspection and propaganda

According to Lieutenant Colonel Le Khac Dang Anh, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team No. 7, the propaganda, training, and dissemination of knowledge and skills on drowning prevention in tourist areas, resorts, and for the people are of great significance, aiming to raise awareness of compliance with regulations on drowning prevention, protecting the lives of themselves and those around them, especially for children during the summer vacation.

Hue City is a locality with many tourist attractions such as streams, waterfalls, and beaches. Thanks to investment and upgrading of tourist attractions associated with improving service quality, the number of visitors coming here to experience is very large, especially local visitors and visitors from neighboring provinces. To ensure safety and prevent drowning accidents, since the beginning of May, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police has issued a document requesting tourist attractions to have proactive plans to ensure safety for visitors coming to play and relax, and at the same time arrange working groups to regularly inspect.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Chi Thanh, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police, said that through inspections at licensed tourist sites associated with the sea, streams, and waterfalls, rescue workers have basically grasped some ways and methods to prevent and combat drowning; rescue work, first aid, and emergency aid for victims are carried out systematically.

In the city, there are still some small, spontaneous bathing spots, where management boards have not yet been established; therefore, detecting and implementing rescue plans when drowning accidents occur is still difficult. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department will have a plan to coordinate with local authorities to review unsafe beaches, rivers, streams, and waterfalls to place warning signs to warn people of danger.

"Each tourist needs to consider choosing safe tourist and resort destinations that fully meet the conditions and regulations for rescue and proactively equip themselves with the necessary skills to prevent and combat possible drowning accidents," Lieutenant Colonel Le Chi Thanh noted.
