According to a VNA correspondent in Southern Europe, on May 12, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized a ceremony to introduce and launch the book "Biography of Ho Chi Minh" in Greek, translated from the English version copyrighted by The Gioi Publishing House.

After more than 6 months of efforts with the support of the Steering Committee for External Information Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, especially the World Publishing House and the Greek side, Mr. Velissarios Kossivakis, a member of the Greek Communist Party and the New Star group, the book "Biography of Ho Chi Minh" in Greek has been officially launched.

Speaking at a press conference in Athens, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong sincerely thanked comrade Velissarios Kossivakis, the New Star group and translator Vasiliki Kappa for translating and publishing the book into Greek, as well as the good feelings that the Greek people in general have for President Ho Chi Minh and the country and people of Vietnam.

The Ambassador said that there have been a number of books about President Ho Chi Minh translated into Greek before, but the book "Biography of Ho Chi Minh" published this time is the most complete book in Greek, introducing the biography and career of President Ho Chi Minh from his youth to the period of leaving to find a way to save the country; the period of preparation for the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam; leading the revolutionary movement; leading the general uprising of the entire people; leading the national resistance war and the cause of building socialism in the North, the struggle to liberate the South, and reunify the country.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu Huong believes that this will be a valuable handbook, meeting the needs of more and more Greek readers who want to better understand the life, career and great thoughts of President Ho Chi Minh, while helping to further enhance mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, fostering the traditional good friendship between Vietnam and Greece to develop more and more brilliantly.

For his part, speaking at the press conference, Mr. Velissarios Kossivakis said he had been to Vietnam many times. He has a very special affection for Vietnam, especially his respect and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh.

As an experienced person who has translated and published many books by Cuban leaders into Greek, he has long wanted to translate President Ho Chi Minh's books into Greek so that more Greeks can better understand the great leader of the Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, Mr. Kossivakis thanked the Vietnamese Embassy and especially The Gioi Publishing House for supporting him to fulfill this wish.

Following the book “Biography of Ho Chi Minh,” he and the New Star group are currently translating from English to Greek the book “Selected Writings of President Ho Chi Minh from 1920-1969” provided by The Gioi Publishing House and are making efforts to complete it in time for the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day next September./.
