Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that, towards the anniversary of Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18), the Bao Son Award Ceremony 2024 is an important event to honor outstanding research projects and clusters of projects with high scientific and practical value, making practical contributions to the rapid and sustainable development of the country. The award ceremony is also a specific example of private enterprises proactively participating in implementing major policies of the Party and State on science and technology development, especially in the context that our country is making efforts to focus on implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development.
Currently, the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are becoming decisive factors for the sustainable development of countries and peoples. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW affirmed: Science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are a key driving force for socio-economic development, a pillar for Vietnam to become a developed, high-income country. To realize that aspiration, Vietnam needs a strong innovation ecosystem, an advanced science and technology, linked to practice, to businesses and to the country's sustainable development needs.
Dr. Nguyen Van Diep received the Bao Son Award 2024 in the field of Animal and Environmental Protection for his work on Research and production of African swine fever vaccine.
Hero of Labor, People's Physician, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong received the Bao Son Award 2024 in the field of Health Sciences with his research on the application of endoscopic surgery in the treatment of some thyroid diseases.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc received the Bao Son Award 2024 in the field of Engineering Technology for his work on Research and application of advanced three-phase composite materials and structures in engineering.
Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo received the 2024 Bao Son Prize in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities for his work History of Ethnic Policy of Vietnamese Communists.
Congratulating the authors of the four outstanding scientific works honored, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung praised the great contributions of the country's scientific and technological intellectuals, not only improving the quality of human resources, but also creating solid foundations for sustainable socio-economic development. At the same time, he highly appreciated the Bao Son Education and Training Fund and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for annually organizing the award ceremony for outstanding scientific works in many fields. Over the past 15 years, the Bao Son Award has supported, encouraged and promoted inventions, initiatives, and research results of high scientific and practical value, which have been effectively applied and made outstanding contributions to the cause of building and defending the country.
In the context of globalization today, the unprecedented strong development of science and technology associated with the 4th Industrial Revolution has been requiring us to grasp and approach new technologies, master new trends and situations. This is a very heavy requirement and challenge for Vietnam's science and technology intellectuals, to turn science and technology into an important productive force, increase the value of competitive products in the international market, and contribute to the country's double-digit growth in the coming years.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that scientific and technological intellectuals will continue to act as a bridge between knowledge and practice, actively contributing to the era of national development, helping the country reach new heights; and suggested that businesses and economic organizations pay more attention to the development of science and technology to increase potential, competitiveness and create new momentum for businesses and the country.
Bao Son Award - Prestigious brand in the community
Bao Son Fund Chairman Nguyen Truong Son said: Bao Son Education and Training Support Fund was established in 2005 with the purpose of providing financial support for poor students at universities and funding scientists to complete unfinished research projects.

After 20 years of operation, Bao Son Foundation has made significant contributions to society and encouraged the development of science and technology in the country. Since 2010, Bao Son Foundation has organized the Bao Son Award for outstanding scientific and technological works that have been applied in practice, contributing positively to the development of society.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Bao Son Award Council 2024 has received 28 scientific and technological works registered for the award. With the spirit of scientific, serious and impartial work, the Preliminary Council and the Final Council have agreed and decided to select 4 outstanding works in 4 fields to award. These are works that are assessed to have made outstanding advances in research and application of technology, bringing practical value, high economic and social efficiency, contributing to promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life./.
