
On the afternoon of October 22, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the French Institute in Vietnam held a press conference on the international photography biennale Photo Hanoi'25, marking the impressive return of one of the largest contemporary photography events in Vietnam.
Photo Hanoi '25 International Photography Biennale takes place from November 1-30 in Hanoi. Through two editions in 2021 and 2023, Photo Hanoi has proven its strong appeal with more than 170,000 visitors, 200 articles and 5 million social media reach.
Speaking at the press conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said: Photo Hanoi '25 demonstrates Hanoi's strong commitment to implementing cultural initiatives and projects within the framework of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network through organizing events associated with diversifying forms of artistic creativity. Thereby, promoting international cooperation and cultural integration between the capital Hanoi and countries in the region and the world .

Photo exhibitions are not only held at cultural institutions such as: some exhibition houses (45 Trang Tien or 93 Dinh Tien Hoang), cultural and art centers (22 Hang Buom, 2 Le Thai To, 49 Tran Hung Dao...), spaces familiar to the public who love visual arts (French Institute in Vietnam, Japan Foundation, Casa Italia, VCCA...), but are also displayed in many prominent public spaces of the capital such as: Dien Hong flower garden, Hoan Kiem lake shore, wall in the Temple of Literature-Quoc Tu Giam area...
Photo Hanoi'25 is an opportunity for Vietnamese and international photographers to exhibit their outstanding works and share experiences on unique creative methods. The event also contributes to raising awareness among the social community and businesses about the important role of the creative cultural industry in the city's socio-economic development.
According to Mr. Eric Soulier, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities of the French Embassy in Vietnam, Director of the French Institute in Vietnam, in 2025, Photo Hanoi reached a new milestone when it attracted the participation of more than 170 artists from around the world with a series of interesting events. "This shows that this year's program is truly outstanding in both quality and diversity of activities," Mr. Eric Soulier shared.
Not only for professionals, Photo Hanoi'25 is also a colorful visual feast for a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The content of the exhibition activities within the framework of the event will range from historical memories, urban landscapes, to global issues such as: climate change, the relationship between humans and nature...
