On the afternoon of June 24, representatives of the Scholarship Fund named after Professor Tran Van Khe and his family members and students visited Vinh Kim commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, to pay their respects to him and commemorate his great contributions to the culture and music of the nation on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of his death.
On this occasion, two events were announced: The Tran Van Khe Scholarship Fund is preparing to organize the first Award and Scholarship Ceremony on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Professor Tran Van Khe and once again, according to his wishes, the funeral committee on the 49th day of his death brought his spirit tablet to Vinh Kim to worship at Nguyen Tri Temple.
Currently, the professor's nephew, Mr. Nguyen Tri Triet, is preserving part of the professor's remains and setting up an altar.
This house is where Mrs. Nguyen Thi Danh gave birth to her son Tran Van Khe (this house is where Professor Tran Van Khe cried his first cry - PV), so on the occasion of the 49th day of the funeral, family representatives, funeral committee, friends and students brought the professor's spirit here to worship.
Respectfully standing before the altar of Professor Tran Van Khe, Ms. Nguyen The Thanh, Vice President and Vice Director of the fund, spoke about the group of friends who carried out the professor's will, established the Tran Van Khe Scholarship Fund and prepared to organize the first Tran Van Khe Scholarship Award Ceremony. May the professor's spirit watch over and support the fund's activities.
Not long ago, on June 19, at the Majestic Saigon Hotel, where Professor Tran Van Khe often stayed when he returned to Vietnam for work, Ms. Armelle Warnery - photographer, wife of the French Ambassador - presented the Tran Van Khe Scholarship Fund with a portrait of Professor Tran Van Khe taken by her in 2007.
Journalist Nguyen The Thanh expressed his joy and gratitude to Ms. Armelle Warnery. This portrait is expected to be displayed at the first award and scholarship ceremony of the Tran Van Khe Foundation.
