Warm "Happy Home"

Living in the newly handed over spacious and fully-furnished “Happy House”, Mr. Vo The Luc (Ha Duc Dong village, Dai Lanh commune, Dai Loc) could not hide his emotions. Previously, Mr. Luc lived with his 4 children in a small, dilapidated house that was destroyed by a storm and had to stay at an acquaintance’s house.

Based on the information introduced by Dai Loc District Youth Union, Huong Sen Charity Club and Tam Sang Charity Group surveyed the needs and connected with benefactors to support the cost of building a house for Mr. Luc.

The house was started in early May 2024 and completed after 3 months, with a construction cost of more than 100 million VND. Of which, Huong Sen Charity Club supported 60 million VND, the rest was donated by organizations and individuals and contributed working days of Dai Lanh Commune Youth Union.

In the joy of living in a new house, Mr. Luc emotionally shared: “Thank you Dai Loc District Youth Union for connecting and volunteer groups for helping me build a new house. Thanks to this temporary house removal program, I feel more secure to live my old age.”

“Happy House” is a prominent project in the program of activities of Huong Sen Charity Club. The house handed over to Mr. Vo The Luc is the third house that the Club has connected to build in Quang Nam to support families with housing difficulties.

Previously, the Club handed over the happy house to Ms. Do Thi Tien (Tam Anh Bac commune, Nui Thanh) and the family of Mr. Tran Tan Hanh (Binh Dinh Nam commune, Thang Binh).

Solidify houses for the poor

During its 12 years of establishment, Dien Ban Youth Union has visited many highland villages in Quang Nam province on charity trips. In Nam Tra My district, the club recently organized the program “Tak Le - Sharing love”.

In addition to 80 gifts given to all households, the group decided to re-roof, make cement floors, and reinforce columns and doors for the 5 households with the most dilapidated houses in the village.

Mr. Le Tu Thinh - Construction Team Leader of the group shared that to reach the households for repair, the volunteer group had to walk through the old forest for 2 hours, cross the suspension bridge, and wade through streams.

“During the preliminary survey, we calculated the construction materials and mobilized young people in the group who are construction students to support the renovation of the houses for the people to be more solid. Although we did not completely rebuild them due to limited funds, at least we helped the people feel more secure when living in a house that does not leak during the rainy season,” Mr. Thinh shared.

Similarly, Tam Giao Club has implemented a series of programs to repair dilapidated houses for poor households. In the days leading up to Tet 2025, members came to Ong Deo village (Tra Don commune, Nam Tra My district) to reinforce the foundation, install wooden planks to make walls for 5 old, dilapidated houses, and install 30 solar lights for all households in the village.

Mr. Vo Ha An - Chairman of Tam Giao Club shared: "Ong Deo Roof is located on the top of a hill, and has not had electricity for generations. That is the reason we decided to choose this place to install solar lights and repair dilapidated houses so that people can celebrate Tet with peace of mind."

Along with the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, volunteer teams and clubs such as Chung Suc Tre, Tam Giao, Tam Sang... also guide people in the highlands to build potential economic models in the direction of poverty reduction such as raising pigs, goats, growing cinnamon... Thereby, creating conditions for households to escape poverty sustainably and build a prosperous life.

Mr. Tran Hong Phuc - Chairman of Quang Nam Province Charity Association said: "The volunteer groups not only help people in difficult circumstances with gifts but also contribute hundreds of working days to repair and build houses.

This is not only an act of material support but also spreads the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance in the community. With the efforts of the volunteer team towards the community and the joint efforts of the whole society, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is being implemented effectively.

With the responsible cooperation of the whole community, many houses have been repaired and newly built to help people settle down and no longer worry about food and sleep when it rains or winds. The completed houses bring joy and happiness, helping people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

These are also projects demonstrating the role of volunteer groups joining hands to build new rural areas, supporting the elimination of temporary housing for people in difficult circumstances, contributing with local authorities and people to effectively implement social security policies.
