Growing up through the lens
Dinh Van Tien Thinh’s (22 years old, Hoi An) entrepreneurial journey began with simple moments. “At first, I just took fun photos with my phone, recording the scenery around the area where I lived in Hoi An,” Thinh said. The photos of tree branches, blades of grass, boats or mossy roofs aroused in him a special feeling: photography is not just about capturing images, but also a way to tell stories and preserve emotions. It was that moment that urged Thinh to seriously pursue this path.
From self-studying through YouTube and photography communities on social networks, joining the school's Media Club, Thinh started taking free photos for friends and relatives on familiar old street corners to gain experience. Each photoshoot is a learning experience, he experiments with many genres, from portraits, landscapes to wedding photos, gradually forming his own style. This young man traveled through 34 provinces and cities across Vietnam to experience, explore and take photos. The journey of continuous trial - error - learning - improvement helped Thinh achieve proud results: photos were displayed at the exhibition "Da Nang Art Photography - 2019", entered the second round of the international competition "35Award"; famous Instagram pages such as nikonvietnam, sonyvietnam, hoiannow also regularly cite Thinh's photos to introduce to international friends. For Thinh, every award, big or small, is a memorable milestone, not only a recognition but also a motivation to continue creating.
But the path to entrepreneurship is not a bed of roses. As a freelance photographer, Thinh faced financial and mental instability. To overcome this, Thinh learned to plan in detail, using technology apps to manage his shooting, photo editing and rest schedules, and dividing his income into clear categories: equipment investment, living expenses, and savings. “Being a creative person requires a business mindset to be sustainable,” Thinh acknowledged.
Currently, Thinh is a photographer loved by many young people because of his youthful, creative, and thoughtful shooting style. Thinh's dream is to open a small studio, not only taking photos but also sharing his passion with other young people. For Thinh, the most important factor in turning passion into a career is discipline: "Passion is the beginning, but discipline will help you go the long way. If you are not serious, it will only be a hobby. The most important thing is to always keep a progressive spirit, practice hard and not be afraid to ask or learn."

Conquer your dream from the badminton court
Hoang Tien Dat (23 years old, Da Nang), a student at the University of Technology (Da Nang University), started playing badminton in the second grade. But it was not until the ninth grade that the feeling of standing on the podium to receive medals and the cheering eyes of the audience made him determined to stick with this sport . “I like the feeling of competing, being watched and recognized by everyone,” Dat shared.
Dat participated and won medals in many domestic tournaments and twice brought home the gold medal in the highest category of men's doubles when competing internationally. But more than achievements, what makes him love badminton is the spirit of companionship. Dat shared: "In the journey of competing and growing up, I met friends, brothers, and teachers who guided and inspired me to strive and improve every day."
The idea of establishing a badminton club came to Dat when he participated in a tournament for children. “I wanted to pass on what I learned, and let the kids feel the joy I had,” Dat said. From free lessons for a few acquaintances, or earning money to pay for the court, Dat gradually built up his reputation and name thanks to his dedication, while sharing badminton techniques on social media, attracting more students; learning about each student carefully, adjusting each movement and posture. Every time he saw a student smile brightly after making a good shot, he knew he was on the right track.
Starting his career as a student, Dat faced many difficulties, from empty fields to tiring days due to a busy study schedule. However, with his efforts, up to now, DAT Badminton Club has attracted nearly 100 students of all ages, some of whom have been with the club for a long time, from being students to becoming teaching assistants, supporting and accompanying Dat on his journey to conquer and inspire his passion for sports. Dat's dream is to open his own badminton court and add more classes for children.
The story of Thinh and Dat is not only about photography or badminton, but also about how young people dare to live with their passion. They started from simple things: a photo taken with a phone, a free badminton lesson... But it is patience, discipline, love for the job and the spirit of continuous learning that helped them turn those small things into the foundation for their career.
