Continuing the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly, this morning, October 21, National Assembly deputies discussed in groups the results of implementing the socio-economic development plan for 2025 and directions for 2026. Many major issues were raised, from economic growth, public investment, to challenges of social security, environment and urban management.
Delegates highly appreciated the Government's report, saying that Vietnam's economy in 2025 will continue to maintain high growth momentum, achieving and exceeding 15/15 socio-economic targets, of which GDP will increase by 8%, higher than the target set by the National Assembly .
National Assembly delegates also expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the development aspirations clearly demonstrated through the orientation that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh gave in the Government's report: "reaching out to the ocean, going deep into the earth and flying high into space."
Discussing the recent socio-economic development results, many delegates expressed their impression with figures such as breakthrough coastal infrastructure with more than 1,700 km of completed coastal roads, connecting major ports such as Lach Huyen, Cai Mep-Thi Vai; trade and import-export reached a record 900 billion USD, putting Vietnam in the group of 20 economies with the world's leading import-export; sea tourism recovered impressively, welcoming about 22-23 million international visitors in 2025.
In addition to the positive results, many delegates also frankly pointed out the “bottlenecks” that need to be resolved soon. For example, regarding public investment, the disbursement rate has only reached about 50%, which is considered a “bottleneck” of growth. Some delegates emphasized that disbursement is not only about budget spending, but also about jobs and people’s livelihoods.
Some delegates said that new industries such as renewable energy or marine technology have not received due attention. Forest protection policies also need to be adjusted, as the current contract level is only about 600,000-700,000 VND/ha/year.
Many opinions are concerned about the situation of rapidly increasing house prices, fluctuating gold market and widespread counterfeit goods, directly threatening consumer safety.
Regarding legislative work, many delegates reflected that although the National Assembly and the Government have made many efforts in legislative work and law-making, there are still many guiding documents that have not been issued, causing difficulties in practical implementation.
Based on the analysis of the results achieved and the identification of challenges in the coming period, National Assembly deputies said that in order to achieve the goal of sustainable development, the entire political system needs to continue to innovate thinking, act more decisively, clear bottlenecks, and turn the aspiration to "reach out to the ocean" into a practical driving force in each policy and each step of national development./.
