Football tournament kicks off bringing together journalists in the Central region

On June 1, in Hue City (Thua Thien - Hue), the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Journalists Association sponsored the Resident Association and the Hue Resident Press Club (HUE RFC) to organize the opening ceremony of the 10th Central Journalism Football Tournament in 2024.

The tournament is a playground for journalists in the Central region to meet and exchange, strengthen solidarity, and is held to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024).

In its 10th edition, the tournament gathered more than 300 athletes who are journalists, reporters, and members of 8 football teams in the Central region, from Thanh Hoa to Binh Dinh. These are the press football clubs: Thanh Hoa Newspaper FC, Nghe An RCLUB, Ha Tinh Newspaper FC, Quang Binh JFC, Quang Tri Newspaper FC, Hue RFC (home team), Da Nang JFC, Binh Dinh - Quang Nam Press Alliance.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Standing Deputy Secretary of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Party Committee, presented flowers to representatives of the football teams.

The tournament takes place over 2 days (June 1 and 2) at Ba Cong artificial football field, No. 1 Van Tien Dung, An Dong Ward (Hue City).

The teams are divided into two groups to compete. The two teams that win the group will compete in the final match to win first and second place; the two teams that finish second will compete for third and fourth place. The remaining teams will be ranked in order.

The Central Press Football Tournament was first held in 2014 in the ancient capital of Hue. Up to now, the tournament has gone through 10 seasons, hosted by local press football clubs in turn. This is also the third time the tournament has been held in Hue City.

The teams are determined to compete in a spirit of sportsmanship .

The organizers said that in addition to the purpose of practicing sports and connecting the spirit of solidarity among journalists, the Central Press Football Tournament also aims at humanitarian meaning. In each season, there is a charity donation program to support families in difficult circumstances.

Over the previous 9 seasons, the charity program has supported colleagues in difficulty with a total amount of up to hundreds of millions of VND; awarded scholarships to poor but studious students, and supported the construction of 3 gratitude houses for poor households.

This year, continuing that tradition, the Organizing Committee of the 10th Central Press Football Tournament launched a fundraising campaign among all athletes and members of the delegations to carry out a project to build a house of gratitude for poor households in A Luoi district (Thua Thien - Hue) with an estimated amount of about 50 million VND.
