Good news for integrated subjects
In 2024, Hanoi National University of Education will use 5 admission methods, including: Admission based on the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam; direct admission; consideration of high school transcripts; entrance exams (aptitude exams, capacity assessment exams); combination of entrance exams and admission.
This year, the school offers 29 pedagogical majors and 16 non-pedagogical majors. Of these, there are two new majors: History - Geography and Natural Sciences (KHTN).
This is the first time Hanoi National University of Education has opened a training program for integrated subjects teachers after 5 years since theeducation sector announced the new general education program with the introduction of integrated subjects. The purpose of opening these two training programs is to meet the needs of teachers teaching integrated subjects according to the 2018 general education program.
Previously, Hue University of Education enrolled the first course of History - Geography Pedagogy in 2020. In 2021, the first course of Natural Science Pedagogy was implemented. This is a major to train teachers to teach Natural Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) at secondary schools according to the new program.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa - Head of University Training and Student Affairs Department, Hue University of Education said: "Up to now, the school is organizing training according to plan and next June will have the first graduating class of History - Geography Pedagogy".
At Hanoi National University of Education 2, the History - Geography Pedagogy major will be trained from 2023. Talking to reporters of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thu - Head of the school's Training Department said that in 2024, the school will continue to enroll students in this major and start enrolling students for the Natural Science Pedagogy major.
Although this is a newly licensed major, the school has been preparing since 2015. After the draft of the new general education program was released, the school has actively prepared staff and facilities to serve the training of integrated majors.
Based on the analysis of enrollment data and student learning outcomes, this year, University of Education 2 maintains 4 stable enrollment methods: Direct enrollment and priority enrollment; enrollment using the results of the competency assessment exam (of Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi National University of Education); enrollment using high school learning outcomes (transcripts); enrollment using high school graduation exam results.
Towards integrated postgraduate training
It is expected that universities opening integrated teacher training programs will solve problems in implementing integrated teaching according to the 2018 General Education Program in current general schools.
In response to the requirements for the quality of training teachers for integrated teaching, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thu said that for the Natural Science Education major, although the teaching staff participating in the training are from 3 different faculties: Physics, Chemistry, Biology-Technology, the lecturers are ready for integrated teaching. Before being allowed to open the Natural Science Education major, the lecturers participated in training teachers in integrated teaching in many provinces/cities across the country.
In addition to the laboratory and practice systems, the school takes full advantage of technology. The system of experiments and practices is built on the basis of using the advantages of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology.
For the two integrated training programs, students are trained in the skills of exploiting and using artificial intelligence in designing lesson plans as well as using artificial intelligence to apply to each teaching process.
To help candidates feel secure in choosing an integrated major, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Thu said: "The school has taken an important step in starting to build a master's and doctoral training program for these two integrated majors. Currently, the school has been working with a number of prestigious universities and a number of foreign experts to design an integrated postgraduate training program."
