Vice President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) Zainudin Amali revealed that he is working with the Indonesian embassy in Portugal.
Will Portugal go to Indonesia for a friendly match?
PSSI's purpose is to invite the Portuguese team to play a friendly match during the upcoming FIFA Days through the embassy.
Sharing with the press, Mr. Zainudin Amali said: "We are working so that the Indonesian team can play a friendly match with the Portuguese team, before Ronaldo retires. Of course, this friendly match will take place during FIFA Days."
FIFA Days is the time every year for the teams to gather again with almost their full squad.
“We have eight opportunities a year to scout national teams for friendly matches.
At least Indonesia got to play Argentina. Now we want to meet Portugal and Ronaldo,” said Zainudin Amali.
On June 19, the team from the archipelago country competed with world champion Argentina.
However, in that match, coach Shin Tae-yong and his team did not compete with famous names like Messi or Di Maria.
Previously, PSSI leaders also affirmed that they will continuously spend money for Indonesian players to play friendly matches with the world's top teams.
“We want to invite teams like Morocco, Brazil, Spain and France. However, this is not an easy task,” said Mr. Amali.
