Reviewing the responsibility of each individual involved in the student fight at Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School (Tan Binh District)

The Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District has just sent a document to the Standing Committee of the People's Committee of Tan Binh District reporting the incident of students fighting and filming a clip at Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School (Tan Binh District).

Immediately after learning about the incident, the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District worked with the Board of Directors of Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School and requested the school leaders to report the incident.

Accordingly, around December 2022 (end of semester 1 of the 2022-2023 school year), NTTP (currently in class 9A9) had a conflict with NPYL (currently in class 8A16), so he invited 3 other students including LTH (currently in class 9A10), NNTT (currently in class 9A9), NYN (currently in class 9A14) to meet his friend in the closed-door girls' restroom to talk.

Afterwards, the students got into a fight with each other, filmed the clip, but did not release it on social media. At that time, the student who was beaten went home to tell his mother and the school coordinated with the parents to resolve the matter, and the parties basically no longer had any conflicts.

By the evening of September 26, 2023, the above clip was spread on social media. After verifying with the students involved and the account that spread the clip on social media, the school invited the students and parents to come in for questioning.

The details reported by Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School are as follows: The incident took place last school year, the students involved basically no longer have conflicts with each other.

However, about 3 weeks ago, an outsider hacked the Facebook account of a student who is the class monitor of class 9A9 and used this account to send messages demanding money from the students involved in the clip, otherwise the clips would be posted on social networks.

Because the students involved did not agree to pay, on the afternoon of September 26, 2023, the clip was posted on social media.

After receiving the feedback, on the morning of September 27, the school leaders coordinated with the Security Team (Tan Binh District Police), Ward 13 People's Committee, Ward 13 Police, Ward 13 Women's Union and parents of related students to resolve the incident.

Through working, the students who had fought with their friends and recorded the clip all saw their mistakes and pledged to change their ways this school year and absolutely not repeat the offense.

The beaten student also agreed to reconcile with his friends and there was no more conflict.

Parents of the families also agreed not to pursue the past and promised to closelyeducate their children in the future.

For students who engage in physical altercations with their friends, the school will continue to educate and warn them at the appropriate level depending on the severity of the violation so that they can see their mistakes from the previous school year and correct them in this school year.

Regarding the clip that was released on social media, the school leaders asked for the support of the District Security Team to use professional measures to track the hacked account, however, the outside subject blocked the account so the investigation was temporarily not possible.

Through the above incident, the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District requested the Board of Directors of Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School to strengthen legal education such as the Law on Children, the Law on Cyber Security for students; at the same time, strengthen the prevention of school violence, and behavioral culture in schools for all teachers and students.

In addition, the leaders of Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School continue to coordinate with parents and local authorities to resolve the issue, organize meetings to review the responsibilities of students and related individuals, and report to the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District.
