According to information from the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade , after a video of an unusually long cigarette intestine spread on social networks, on the morning of May 8, the interdisciplinary food safety inspection team of Cau Giay district (Hanoi) suddenly inspected "Long chat quan" at 18 Tran Thai Tong, Dich Vong Hau ward.
The move was made amid public uproar over a video circulating on Facebook and TikTok, recording the image of a "40m long, 5.8kg long intestine" allegedly taken from a female pig weighing more than 100kg at this restaurant.
At the time of inspection, the restaurant owner, Mr. Ngo Quyen The, said that the restaurant not only sells pork offal but also has many dishes made from pig organs.
Regarding the incident that attracted attention, Mr. The confirmed that the image was posted in 2024 and admitted that "the intestines are actually only over 20m long", and apologized to consumers for the inaccurate information spreading on social networks.
Previously, on May 7, Hanoi's No. 1 interdisciplinary food safety inspection team had a working session with the People's Committee of Cau Giay District, requesting the district to strengthen the inspection of related food businesses, especially restaurants specializing in selling pork intestines.
Verifying the origin and controlling food safety of animal offal products is considered extremely necessary in the context of consumers' increasing concerns about safety and hygiene in food processing and preservation.
The inspection team representative said that they will continue to monitor the facility's operations, check hygiene conditions, food origin records, and coordinate with relevant units to have appropriate handling directions if violations are detected.
