Strictly handle establishments trading in medicinal herbs and traditional medicines of unknown origin.

On May 21, according to information from the Ministry of Health , the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management established two surprise inspection teams to implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatches and Directives on the peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights related to traditional medicines, traditional medicinal herbs, and medicinal materials.

The inspection team is responsible for conducting surprise inspections of the implementation of legal regulations on production, export, import, and wholesale of medicinal herbs, traditional medicinal ingredients, and traditional medicines at establishments trading in medicinal herbs, traditional medicinal ingredients, and traditional medicines according to the contents of Plan No. 58/KH-YDCT dated May 20, 2025; Surprise inspections of the implementation of legal regulations on practicing medical examination and treatment using traditional medicine, production and processing of medicinal herbs, traditional medicinal ingredients, and traditional medicines at establishments examining and treating medical examination and treatment using traditional medicine.

The authorities check the origin, source, and quality of medicinal herbs, traditional medicines, and traditional medicines at establishments producing and trading medicinal herbs, traditional medicines, and medical examination and treatment facilities using traditional medicine.

At the same time, the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management has sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally-run cities regarding strengthening inspection and examination of medical examination and treatment activities and information and advertising in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy...

The Ministry of Health also requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to strengthen control and management of information and advertising activities; Review and strictly handle violations in information and advertising of medical examination and treatment using traditional medicine, medicinal herbs, traditional medicines, traditional medicines, etc.

The Department of Health of provinces and cities shall coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology and relevant units to propagate, disseminate and require scientists and practitioners in the field of traditional medicine to sign a commitment not to advertise or introduce false information, information lacking scientific basis or basis, or to exaggerate the features and uses of products without carefully verifying legal documents related to the products; and to be responsible before the law for any fraudulent advertising./.
