There are places along the roads where garbage is still thrown in piles.

According to statistics, the province generates about 1,150 tons of domestic waste per day. The volume of domestic solid waste collected mainly in urban areas, towns, commune centers or routes where collection vehicles can reach fluctuates between 870-890 tons per day.

The rate of urban waste collection and treatment in 2024 will reach 100% and the rate of rural waste collection and treatment will reach 85.2%.

For domestic waste in rural areas that has not been collected and treated, people mainly sort it themselves for composting, burn it themselves or dispose of it in home gardens, roadsides, canals and ditches.

In an effort to protect the environment and develop sustainably, the province has developed a plan and is actively implementing solid waste management solutions for the 2025-2030 period with many specific goals and synchronous solutions.

The province aims to ensure that all domestic solid waste generated in the area is classified, collected, transported and treated at centralized treatment areas. Industrial solid waste is also strictly managed and treated at factories inside or outside the province according to regulations.

The province is determined to put an end to the indiscriminate dumping of waste into rivers, canals, ditches, ponds, lakes, public places and along traffic routes; at the same time, thoroughly handle locations where waste is stored illegally.

The province sets specific targets: The rate of collection and treatment of solid waste in urban areas reaches 100%, and in rural areas reaches 95-98%. All districts, towns and cities must establish and organize the correct and sufficient collection of fees for collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste; moving towards not using the state budget for this work.

To achieve the above goal, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam directed localities to review and study the arrangement of garbage collection and transfer points to ensure practicality and compliance with regulations.

In addition, the province focuses on classifying solid waste at source to facilitate recycling and reduce the amount of waste that needs to be treated. The digitalization of waste management is also promoted to monitor routes and the amount of waste collected and transported in a transparent and effective manner./.
