On the evening of August 7, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health held the first award ceremony for the "Green-Clean-Beautiful Medical Facility" contest. The event marked a strong transformation of the entire health sector in creating a safe, friendly and sustainable health care environment for patients.
The contest, directed by the Ministry of Health, organized by the Department of Disease Prevention and the Health and Life Newspaper with the support of the vaccination system and Long Chau pharmacy, was launched in August 2024 and quickly received widespread response from the entire health system, from central to local levels and the private health sector.
More than 2,000 medical facilities in 34 provinces and cities have registered to participate in the "Green-Clean-Beautiful Medical Facility" contest, creating a vibrant emulation movement in building a green-clean-beautiful medical facility environment, creating positive experiences for patients and their families; at the same time contributing to improving the working environment, helping medical staff to be more committed and dedicated to their work.

The contest also demonstrates the industry's determination to improve the quality of medical services, and is a practical activity to concretize the Party and State's policies on protecting people's health in conjunction with environmental protection and sustainable development.
The evaluation rules and criteria are designed to be strict, objective and fair, through three scoring parts. The Jury at all levels scores independently and accurately according to the correct scoring scale of the answers.
Notably, the participation of patients and their relatives in evaluating the green-clean-beautiful quality of medical facilities is a breakthrough, a testament to the success of the contest and the application of digital transformation in the medical field.
Nearly 350,000 patients, their families and people have participated in the survey and contributed their opinions via QR codes. This number is not just a statistic, but also a voice and a contribution to help the health sector improve quality based on actual needs, turning the slogan "towards patient satisfaction" into a measurable commitment.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates and symbols to 20 medical facilities. The award structure is divided into 5 levels of medical facilities: central level; provincial level; district level (now regional level); commune level and private medical facilities. Each level has: 1 First prize, 1 Second prize, 1 Third prize, 1 Encouragement prize.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan affirmed: A “Green” medical facility is not just adding a few rows of trees and flower pots. It is the mindset of a sustainable medical ecosystem, proactively saving energy, minimizing plastic waste, linking medical examination and treatment activities with environmental protection. That is the profound message of “prevention is better than cure” for the health of the whole community and the planet.
A “Clean” medical facility is not just a space free of trash. It is an absolutely safe treatment environment, minimizing the risk of cross-infection, protecting the health of both patients and doctors.
A “Beautiful” medical facility is not just about architectural aesthetics. It is the beauty of dedication, of a healing space, where physical pain is soothed and the patient’s spirit is at peace and trustful. It is comprehensive care, the medicine of compassion.

Minister Dao Hong Lan shared that it is commendable that this movement not only has the participation of the public health system but also records the enthusiastic participation of private health facilities. This affirms the Party's correct policy on developing the private economy , creating a combined strength, a healthy competition to improve the quality of services, serving the people better and better.
Today's award ceremony is not the final destination of medical facilities but the beginning of a new phase, with higher determination and stronger action. Therefore, in order for the competition to become a vibrant, widespread and increasingly perfect movement, associated with sustainable development goals and digital transformation, the head of the health sector suggests that leaders of the Departments of Health and medical facilities nationwide consider the criteria "Green-Clean-Beautiful" as one of the core quality indicators, included in the action plan and annual competition assessment. Let's turn the competition into a continuous improvement cycle, where units constantly learn, innovate and strive.
Each medical staff, especially the core force of the Trade Union and Youth Union, should be ambassadors, keepers of the movement right in their own departments and rooms. Let's turn our workplace into a truly healing environment, so that each patient who comes here will not only be cured of their illness, but also be given more faith and hope.
