Timely rescue of cars swept away by flood in Nong Son commune

DNO - On the morning of November 19, the rescue force of Nong Son commune promptly responded to a car that was swept away by floodwaters while traveling on Highway 611.

According to initial information, a 7-seat car was traveling on Highway 611 through Nong Son commune when the water from upstream suddenly poured down, rose rapidly and swept the vehicle down to a dangerous area.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dieu, Commander of the Military Command of Nong Son Commune, said that the unit mobilized nearly 10 officers, soldiers and militiamen, using canoes to approach the scene. The rescue team used ropes to secure the vehicle, approached to get the driver out and towed the vehicle to a safe location.

Mr. Ly Xuan Phong, Chairman of Nong Son Commune People's Committee, said that during days of heavy rain, the locality organizes blockades at dangerous locations, not allowing people and vehicles to pass.

By the morning of November 19, the rainfall had decreased, water levels had receded, and some roads were now open to traffic. However, the locality is located upstream of the Thu Bon River, and due to the hydropower plant’s flood control, water levels fluctuate, and the risk of insecurity is always present.
