Building a cultural family in Dong Nai does not stop at judging and recognizing titles, but has become a way of life, creating connection, love and sharing among members of each family.
Family and locality join hands
The family of Ms. Hoang Thi Huyen (residing in Hamlet 8, Thanh Son Commune, Dong Nai Province) has maintained the title of Cultural Family for many years. Not only has her family complied well with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, but she is also loved by the people because she regularly participates in the social activities of the hamlet and commune. In particular, Ms. Huyen's family is also at the forefront of mobilizing people to maintain security and order, prevent domestic violence (DV), eliminate social evils, and build a new cultural life in ethnic minority areas. In 2024, her family was honored to be recognized as a Typical Cultural Family by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Ms. Huyen shared: “The title of Cultural Family is a motivation for each member of our family to live better every day. I always remind my children and grandchildren to live in harmony, respect their elders, love and share with each other, and actively participate in movements organized by the locality. I believe that when each family is aware of building a cultural lifestyle, the community will be more civilized and the neighborhood relationship will be stronger.”
According to the Steering Committee of the Movement for the Whole People to Unite to Build a Cultural Life in Thanh Son Commune, over the years, the hamlets of the commune have done a good job of propagating, disseminating the content, standards, and evaluating and recognizing the title of Cultural Family in a public, democratic and strict manner. If in 2001, the rate of cultural families in the whole commune was only over 80%, by the end of 2024 it reached 99.2%. Models and clubs for building happy families and preventing domestic violence are maintained and expanded. People in the area seriously implement the building of a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals.
In Dong Phu commune, in 25 years of implementing the Program of Building Cultural Families, the locality has constantly innovated and improved the quality of family work, considering this a key and core task. Every year, the locality has implemented registration, evaluation and recognition of the title of cultural family according to regulations; at the same time, many typical models have been built such as: Exemplary grandparents, parents, filial children; Family of 5 no, 3 clean; Family of raising healthy children, teaching obedient children... Thanks to that, every year the number of households in Dong Phu commune achieving the title of cultural family reaches over 96%; 20/20 villages achieving the title of cultural residential area.
Raising awareness, creating influence in the community
Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai Le Thi Ngoc Loan said: The campaign to build a cultural family is based on the traditional values of the Vietnamese family. Each individual and each family has a role in preserving and fostering the national cultural identity. This is the "root" that forms good thoughts, ethics and lifestyles, becoming a "shield" against the negative impacts of social evils or the negative side of the market mechanism.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan said: “Dong Nai is one of the first provinces in the country to build software to collect data on family work, helping to store information and report data analysis results from the base quickly. From there, units and localities identify the right areas and target groups to deploy propaganda more effectively.”
The province currently has nearly 2,000 family clubs with about 20,000 members. Club meetings in localities incorporate the content of preventing and combating domestic violence; encouraging economic development, raising good children; reconciling conflicts, providing advice, intervening, and promptly reducing domestic violence cases in the community.
In particular, over the past time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has constantly changed the method of propaganda in family work, prevention and control of domestic violence. Along with promoting visual propaganda and mobile propaganda, every year, the department organizes the Program to Honor Typical Cultural Families; coordinates with Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio and Television to produce special pages, columns, talk shows, and entertainment game shows in the family field, attracting a large number of young families and family clubs, prevention and control of domestic violence to participate. In addition, the department also maintains the Family Counseling Corner section on the unit's website, operating 24/24 hours.
“Continuing to promote the building of cultural families across the province not only connects generations but also helps people realize the importance of family to each individual and to the development of the whole society. When people raise their awareness of happy families - the foundation of a happy society, they will become active agents in building a civilized lifestyle, contributing to building and promoting cultural values, making Dong Nai people an important resource and driving force for comprehensive and sustainable development,” Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan affirmed.
