The messages 'Vietnam - Cuba: Forever shoulder to shoulder in challenges - Sharing in hardships' and 'Vietnam is always there'... became a call to the heart, continuing to spread widely among the people of the Port City.

Business owners and employees of Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd. donate to support the Cuban people.

Far distance, close heart

On the morning of August 25, despite the drizzling rain, hundreds of workers of Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Duong Industrial Park) wore red shirts with yellow stars to attend the flag-raising ceremony in the company yard.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh (in An Lao commune), an employee of the company's equipment purchasing department, she was eager to arrive early because the company's Union announced that today's program included a donation to support the Cuban people.

Ms. Ha Thi Hong Nhung, President of the Trade Union of Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: The company's trade union launched a campaign to encourage each person to donate from 5,000 VND to 10,000 VND to support the Cuban people. About 500 employees of the company have just participated in this activity, with a total amount of nearly 4.3 million VND collected. The company's trade union will transfer the above amount to the City Labor Federation to transfer to the City Red Cross in full and on time.

The Hai Phong Football Supporters Association has its own unique way of organizing fundraising and donations. According to Mr. Tran Tien Dung, Chairman of the Hai Phong Football Supporters Association, the association placed donation boxes at Lach Tray Stadium for two matches: the Vietnam women's football team against Thailand (in the third place match of the Southeast Asian Football Championship) and the Hai Phong football team against the VPF People's Public Security football team.

After public counting, the total amount of donations reached 100 million VND. This fund was directly handed over by the association representative to the city's Red Cross to be delivered to the Cuban people.

Also on the afternoon of August 25, the People's Committee of Ngo Quyen Ward coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to launch a campaign to support the Cuban people.

The trends of mobilizing resources on social networks of mass organizations and volunteers are quickly responded to by the community, contributing to strongly spreading the spirit of humanity, solidarity and sharing.

Ensuring transparency and publicity

The city's Red Cross Society received a donation of 100 million VND from the Hai Phong Football Supporters Association.

According to statistics via Account 1505 (MB Bank), in the past week (as of 4:00 p.m. on August 25), the Hai Phong City Red Cross Society has received 1.17 billion VND in support funds. Of which, the City Labor Federation donated (phase 1) more than 321 million VND, Lien Viet Logistics Joint Stock Company donated 5 million VND, Tu Ky Commune Kindergarten donated 4.8 million VND, Kien Thuy Area Project Management Board donated 7.8 million VND...

According to Mr. Bui Manh Phuc, Chairman of the Hai Phong City Red Cross Society, for the first time, the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank) - the unit that built the Charity platform - has established a separate website, supporting the public statement work and creating maximum convenience for people and organizations to easily track, check and supervise contributions. It is expected that the City Red Cross Society will organize a program to announce the receipt of support and transfer of funds in September this year.

Activities to support the Cuban people have been and are being deployed synchronously, simultaneously and promptly in the city, clearly demonstrating the concern, generosity and affection of the Party committees, authorities and people of Hai Phong city towards the Cuban people.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, requested all cadres, party members, civil servants, armed forces, business community and people of the city to actively respond to the movement to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties, turn the spirit of international solidarity into practical actions, contributing to consolidating and nurturing the special traditional friendship between the Vietnamese and Cuban people.

The City People's Committee assigned the City Red Cross Society to preside over and coordinate with the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and relevant agencies and units to mobilize, publicize account numbers, guide the receipt, management, and transfer of support funds according to regulations and periodically report the results in writing (every Thursday) to the City People's Committee Office to update and monitor the implementation progress.
