Vietnam U23 team gets more motivation before the qualifying round of the U23 Asian Football Championship

On the afternoon of August 26, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced: Loc Phat Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank) is the main sponsor of Group C - the group of U23 Vietnam in the qualifying round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.

The 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers bring together 44 teams, divided into 11 groups. The teams play a round-robin format to determine rankings, with the top 11 group winners and the four best second-placed teams, along with host nation U23 Saudi Arabia, advancing to the finals in January 2026. The Vietnam U23 team is in Group C with Yemen U23, Singapore U23, and Bangladesh U23.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed that LPBank's partnership is not only a practical support for organizing the group stage hosted by Vietnam, but also provides additional moral support and favorable conditions for the Vietnam U23 team when participating in the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, as part of the plan to prepare for the important goals of the Vietnam U23 team in 2025, in addition to the effort to win the right to host the group stage of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, the VFF and coach Kim Sang-sik have proactively developed a long-term plan for the team's personnel. From the second half of 2024 to the present, many players in the U22 age group have been called up to the national team during FIFA Days to accumulate experience, improve physical and technical skills, and get used to the intensity of international competition. Furthermore, the Vietnam U22 team also regularly participates in quality tournaments such as the U22 International Tournament in China in March 2025, which will include Uzbekistan, South Korea, and host China. Recently, the Vietnam U23 team brilliantly won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time after defeating host Indonesia in the final, boosting their confidence before entering the continental qualifiers.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Bui Thai Ha, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of LPBank, expressed that LPBank's decision to become the main partner of Group C stems from its belief in the potential and determination of the young generation of Vietnamese players. Through this cooperation, LPBank hopes to work with the VFF to spread the spirit of fair play , while also creating motivation for the U23 Vietnam team to have more favorable conditions and confidence to conquer the goal of qualifying for the final round.

The matches in Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers will take place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho province ) from September 3rd to 9th, 2025. To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam U23 team will reconvene on August 29th.
