As a result, LH12 rice variety adapts well to local climate and soil conditions and gives high yield.
In the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop, Krong Pa district sowed about 2,550 hectares of rice. Before entering the Winter-Spring crop, the District Agricultural Service Center coordinated with the National Agricultural Extension Center and the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to deploy a certified LH12 rice variety propagation model on an area of 10 hectares in the fields of Chu Gu commune, with the participation of 15 households, mainly ethnic minorities. People were supported with 100% of seeds, 70% of agricultural materials and technical guidance. Through the harvest results, the average yield reached 7.7-8 tons/ha, the profit was about 25 million VND/ha, 10 million VND/ha higher than traditional rice varieties.

Mr. Ksor Ru’s family (Chu Jut village) participated in the experimental planting model of LH12 variety. Previously, he often used Dai Thom 8 variety but it was often affected by pests and diseases. “I find that LH12 rice variety is healthy, ripens evenly, has fewer pests and diseases and has a much higher yield. This crop, I will continue to use LH12 variety if the State supports it,” Mr. Ru shared.
Mr. Ksor Da - Party Cell Secretary and Head of Chu Bang Village said: "Participating in the field workshop on the LH12 rice variety planting model, I saw high productivity and few pests and diseases. We hope that the professional agency will continue to replicate this model and organize training courses and provide specific technical guidance so that people can master the care, fertilization, and pest control processes."
According to Mr. Au Thanh Trung - Director of the District Agricultural Service Center: Previously, farmers often sowed thickly with a rate of 180-200 kg of seeds/ha, now reduced to 100-120 kg/ha. Thanks to that, farmers not only save costs, reduce the amount of fertilizer but also contribute to protecting the soil environment and increasing the natural resistance of rice plants. The highlight in the process of implementing the model is the synchronous application of integrated management measures (ICM) and integrated pest control (IPM). Thanks to that, leaf rollers, stem borers, rice blast disease... in LH12 variety, although appearing, are at very low density, not affecting productivity. Reducing pesticides not only saves costs, reduces the risk of water pollution and does not affect people's health.
“This model does not stop at transferring varieties but is also a field class to help people change their awareness and approach advanced farming techniques with new varieties. Through the model, we aim to form a high-quality rice material area with stable output links,” said Mr. Trung.

From a professional perspective, Mr. Hoang Tuyen Phuong - Head of the Department of Cultivation and Forestry (National Agricultural Extension Center) informed: "The LH12 variety has a germination rate of over 95%. The yield is about 7.7-8 tons/ha. If used as a commercial rice variety, the profit is up to about 30 million VND/ha. We evaluate this as a rice variety that is very suitable for the climate and soil conditions of the Central Highlands. In the coming time, the Center will continue to coordinate with localities to expand the LH12 variety".
Talking to reporters, the Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Krong Pa district emphasized: In the coming time, the locality will continue to propose specialized agencies to support the expansion of the model, provide technical training and build value chain linkages. We expect that from this model, a large raw material area can be formed. With good varieties, standard techniques and stable output, the rice production industry in Krong Pa will be truly sustainable.
