Thanks to actively participating in training courses to improve cultivation techniques organized by the Farmers' Association, farmers in My Thuan commune have innovated cultivation methods for high rice productivity.
Coming to My Thuan at this time, people are starting to harvest the winter-spring crop. The sound of threshing machines and threshing machines is loud in the fields. Ms. Ha Thi Thai (Thuan area, My Thuan commune) excitedly shared: Previously, due to lack of experience in choosing rice varieties suitable for the soil and climate, the rice-growing area of my family had low productivity. Encouraged by the Commune Farmers' Association to participate in training courses to improve rice planting and care skills, my family chose new rice varieties and applied the border effect planting method, actively visited the fields, and prevented pests and diseases... This winter-spring crop, my family planted 3 sao of Nhi Uu 838 rice variety. The rice grew well, had few pests and diseases, and after harvesting, the yield was high, reaching about 2 quintals/sao.
Also in My Thuan commune for many years, beekeeping for honey has become a profession that brings high economic efficiency to farmers. The whole commune currently has 1 My Thuan Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative and 1 Muong Vac Honey Beekeeping Association consisting of 13 members developing the beekeeping profession. Currently, the cooperative and the association have a scale of over 3,000 bee colonies, with an average output of about 40 tons/year. The cooperative and the association have also successfully built 2 3-star OCOP products on honey with the brands "My Thuan Wildflower Honey" and "Muong Vac Natural Wildflower Honey".
Comrade Hoang Son Duc - Chairman of the Commune Farmers' Association said: In order to encourage the spirit, will and determination of members and farmers to strive for economic development and sustainable poverty reduction, in recent times, the Association has actively and widely disseminated to all cadres and members the contents of economic development programs and projects implemented by the locality, emulation movements launched by the Provincial Association and the Central Association; focusing on specific program and project contents into many agricultural models suitable for each group of members and farmers; replicating advanced models and typical examples to create motivation for emulation in the Association organization...
OCOP product "My Thuan forest flower honey" is displayed and promoted at trade promotion programs in the province.
My Thuan Commune Farmers' Association currently has 1,144 members, of which over 80% are Muong ethnic people, operating in 14 branches. Closely following the resolutions and programs of the local Party Committee, government and the Association's movements, in the period of 2019 - 2024, the Association has implemented a variety of programs and activities to support farmer members in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction, such as: Coordinating with functional agencies to open training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances to farmers; building and replicating effective economic models in agriculture; consulting and supporting vocational training for farmers to develop production and business; promoting and mobilizing members to set an example in implementing the criteria for building new rural areas;... attracting a large number of farmer members to participate. Currently, the Association is managing the entrusted loan source of the Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding loan of over 14 billion VND for 334 members.
In 2024, the whole association has 858 households registered to compete in excellent production and business. Through evaluation, 515/858 households achieved the title of excellent production and business at all levels. Among them are many effective economic models such as pig, chicken, and cow breeding models; aquaculture; beekeeping for honey, planting seedlings...
With practical actions, the Farmers' Association of My Thuan commune has clearly demonstrated the role and companionship of the Association; aroused the determination, dynamism and creativity in developing the family economy of each member and farmer; thereby contributing to promoting socio-economic development, together with the local government to successfully implement the goals of building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction.
