After the box office success of the first film, which grossed nearly $632 million, the two sequels Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 were released in 2011 and 2016 respectively. The three films brought DreamWorks and Universal $1.8 billion at the global box office, making Kung Fu Panda the 10th highest-grossing animated film series of all time.

Po the Panda voiced by Jack Black

The sequel Kung Fu Panda 4 is also expected to continue its box office success. The film focuses on Po (voiced by Jack Black), an excitable panda living in ancient China. Po has come a long way from a clumsy kung fu enthusiast to the famous "Dragon Warrior".

Right at the beginning of the trailer, Po has to get used to the "art" of meditation, followed by a bland diet, but the more he tries, the more attractive Po's favorite cakes become, hindering his concentration to meditate. Po quickly finds and trains a descendant of "Dragon Warrior" before he can take on his new position and noble mission.

In the first film in the series, released in 2008, Po is chosen to become a master of kung fu. Over the course of the next two films, Po trains under the guidance of Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) and overcomes his doubts to become a talented hero, defeating many dangerous enemies and eventually reuniting with his long-lost biological parents.

The first Kung Fu Panda film was DreamWorks' highest-grossing animated film, grossing $631 million at the global box office. In addition to financial success, the three Kung Fu Panda films have generally received positive reviews from critics. In a 2016 Variety review, critic Justin Chang called the third film "a show of perseverance and self-awareness that pays off."
