Tran Khat Chan was from Ha Lang village, Vinh Ninh district (now Vinh Loc district), born into a family of three generations of Generals. Growing up in a chaotic country, General Tran Khat Chan soon showed his intelligence, martial arts skills, and resourcefulness. In 1388 (the year of Mau Thin), he passed the Thai Hoc Sinh exam; then the royal court highly regarded him and appointed him as a general commanding the Long Tiep army. In November of the year Ky Ty (1389), the Champa army led by Che Bong Nga attacked our country. With his talent and courage, he beheaded the enemy general Che Bong Nga, making a great contribution to repelling the Champa army and keeping the country's borders safe.
The Tran Khat Chan Festival takes place with traditional rituals such as sacrificial offerings, incense offering... solemnly organized to show gratitude and commemorate the merits of General Tran Khat Chan. Thereby, contributingto educating the spirit of loving the homeland and country, promoting the traditional cultural values of the nation.
To commemorate his contributions, Vinh Tien and Vinh Thinh communes, where he is worshiped, also held festivals with many spiritual and cultural activities attracting a large number of people and tourists from all over.
