At the ceremony, former Youth Volunteers reviewed the tradition of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteers. On July 15, 1950, implementing the directive of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh , the Party Central Committee's Youth Mobilization Committee decided to establish the first Central Youth Volunteer Team (the predecessor of the Youth Volunteers) to serve the border campaign. The team's provisional command consisted of 5 comrades. The first Youth Volunteers unit had 225 members, formed into 3 teams, marking the official birth of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteers.
That historic decision opened a new page in history for generations of Vietnamese Youth Volunteers to uphold patriotism, train their will, endure hardships and difficulties, fight bravely, sacrifice themselves, overcome all challenges, and excellently complete assigned tasks. Many generations of Vietnamese Youth Volunteers have achieved many glorious achievements and outstanding feats in the two long resistance wars and in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, creating a heroic tradition and becoming a legend of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer Force.
In 1965-1975, the "Three Ready Youth" movements in the North and the Youth Volunteers in the South received positive responses from many youth classes. The Youth Volunteers were present in most of the arduous and fierce battlefields, fighting side by side with the army day and night, serving in combat, acting as a shock force to build the Truong Son road and strategic roads, ensuring smooth traffic from North to South.
Over the past 75 years, generations of Vietnamese Youth Volunteers have overcome countless difficulties and challenges, completed and excellently completed all tasks entrusted by the Party and the people, establishing the glorious revolutionary tradition of Vietnamese Youth Volunteers. The Youth Volunteers have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the First Class Independence Medal, the Gold Star Medal, and the National Citadel Medal. Many collectives, cadres, and members of the Youth Volunteers have been awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hero of Labor, and many other noble awards.
Promoting the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", in recent years, the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers has encouraged members to continue to carry out the campaigns "Former Youth Volunteers set good examples"; "Studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh" and launching the emulation movement "Former Youth Volunteers do many good deeds, for the sake of comradeship". Accordingly, the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers has mobilized donations from members, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province to build 3 gratitude houses worth 150 million VND; repaired 3 houses worth 60 million VND; visited and gave gifts to former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances on holidays, Tet, Traditional Day of Youth Volunteers (July 15), War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) with more than 1,248 gifts, worth 542 million VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Than Duc Nam, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, expressed his pride and appreciation for the great contributions of the Ha Nam Youth Volunteers in the resistance wars, building and defending the Fatherland in general and Ha Nam province in particular. He hoped that the province's Youth Volunteers would continue to uphold their traditions, actively contribute to social tasks, and pay attention to supporting former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association presented commemorative medals to leaders who have made great contributions to the development of the association; presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "For the solidarity of comrades". The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in emulation movements and building a clean and strong association. The Provincial Veterans Association presented certificates of merit to many collectives and individuals. Sponsors donated 70 million VND to build and repair houses of gratitude for former members of the Youth Volunteers Association in difficult circumstances.
