On the afternoon of September 5, the People's Council of Lam Dong province, term X, 2021-2026, held the 18th session, a thematic session to consider and pass a resolution on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the period 2023-2025.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairwoman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council Pham Thi Phuc said that the arrangement of districts and communes in the 2023-2025 period of the province is very important and consistent with the development trend of the country, the guiding viewpoints of the Party and the State, contributing to orienting local socio -economic development, as well as planning and making regional development plans more favorable, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

At the meeting, delegates of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council voted unanimously to pass a resolution on the policy of rearranging administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period in the province.
Accordingly, the new Da Huoai district was unified to be established, on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the three districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien. New communes were established, including Ba Gia, Ha Lam, Da Oai, and Quang Tri in the new Da Huoai district and Quang Lap commune in Don Duong district.
The new Da Huoai district has a natural area of over 1,448 km2, reaching 170.4% of the standard; the population is over 146 thousand people, reaching 182% of the standard. The whole district has 18 communes and 5 towns.
The headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Da Huoai district are now located in Da Teh district.

The name of Da Huoai district was established in 1979, on the basis of dividing Bao Loc district into 2 districts: Bao Loc and Da Huoai. In 1986, the administrative boundaries of Da Huoai district were adjusted into 3 districts, named Da Huoai, Da Teh and Cat Tien districts today.
Previously, the results of the voter survey of the three districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien showed that more than 96% of voters agreed to merge the three districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien into one district and more than 83% of voters agreed to name the new administrative unit after the merger as Da Huoai district.
Regarding commune-level administrative units, it is agreed to merge Doan Ket commune and Da P'loa commune to form a new commune called Ba Gia; merge Ha Lam and Phuoc Loc communes into Ha Lam commune; merge Da Ton and Da Oai communes to form a new commune called Da Oai; merge Trieu Hai and Quang Tri communes into a new commune called Quang Tri commune; all under the new Da Huoai district.

At the meeting, Lam Dong Provincial People's Council agreed to merge the entire natural area and population of Quang Lap and Pro communes to establish a new commune, named Quang Lap commune, in Don Duong district.
After the meeting, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee will complete the project dossier to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision according to regulations.
Thus, after merging 3 southern districts into 1 district, Lam Dong province has 10 district-level administrative units, including 2 cities of Da Lat and Bao Loc and 8 districts: Lac Duong, Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Dam Rong, Di Linh, Bao Lam, Da Huoai.
