In May and the first half of June 2025, the capacity and electricity consumption in Ha Tinh increased dramatically.

Power output and capacity increased dramatically.

According to statistics from Ha Tinh Electricity Company, in May 2025, the average electricity consumption reached 4.53 million kWh, an increase of about 20% compared to the average level on normal days. In particular, on May 8, the electricity consumption output peaked at 5.31 million kWh, an increase of 40% compared to the average output on normal days (3.8 million kWh).

In June, although there were some rainy days and the temperature dropped, the electricity demand of people, businesses and units still tended to increase. The average capacity in the first 10 days of June to date reached 355.8 MW, approaching the peak capacity in May. Notably, at 1:00 p.m. on June 3, 2025, the consumed capacity reached 400.5 MW, an increase of 13.8% compared to the highest capacity in May and 1.78% higher than the peak in 2024.

The average daily electricity output in the first days of June was also very high, reaching 5.97 million kWh, an increase of 122% compared to the average daily output in May. The highest recorded electricity consumption was 6.31 million kWh, an increase of 110% compared to the day with the highest output in May. From June 10 to now, the increase has been at a normal level, due to the reduction of heat waves and rainy weather for many days.

Production, business and service activities, especially tourism in the province, increased sharply in the second quarter of 2025, which is one of the reasons for the high demand for electricity.

Mr. Mai Thanh Tung - Head of the Dispatching Department (Ha Tinh Electricity Company) said: “The increase in electricity load in May to the first half of June was partly due to the hot weather at that time. Although the sunny days were not long, the average temperature on sunny days was quite high, causing the demand for cooling equipment to increase. In addition, production, business and service activities, especially the tourism sector in the province increased sharply in the second quarter of 2025; industrial parks, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, etc. all operated at high capacity, leading to a corresponding increase in electricity demand. The power system is currently operating stably, we are continuing to closely monitor to promptly adjust the load, prevent grid overload, especially on hot days, peak electricity usage hours ...”.

It is worth mentioning that, unlike other years, the peak of heat in Ha Tinh is usually concentrated in May and June, but this year, it is forecasted that the peak heat waves will appear from early July to August. Temperatures are forecast to fluctuate from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

According to calculations by Ha Tinh Electricity Company, during the upcoming peak hot season, the maximum power consumption capacity can reach 440.5 MW, an increase of 51% compared to normal days and an increase of 11.5% compared to the highest level recorded in 2024. The maximum power consumption output is forecast to reach 6.8 million kWh/day, 78% higher than normal days and an increase of 10% compared to the highest level last year (6.16 million kWh). With the high power consumption capacity and output, it will put a lot of pressure on the electricity industry in balancing and regulating the load to ensure safe and stable power supply during the hot season.

Proactive measures to ensure energy security

Officers and workers promote electricity saving to households.

In the context of the constantly increasing demand for electricity, Ha Tinh Electricity Company has proactively implemented solutions to ensure energy security in the summer, meeting the electricity needs of people and production and business.

Since the beginning of the year, the company has directed power companies to focus on reviewing, upgrading and renovating the power grid system, especially in areas at risk of local overload, to ensure safety and stable operation during the peak summer months. At the same time, it has implemented load adjustment (DR) programs, encouraging large customers to participate in reducing power consumption during peak hours; promoting the application of digital technology in monitoring, supervising and warning of load in real time to promptly propose appropriate load regulation plans.

The electricity industry is always ready with solutions to provide safe and stable power during the hot season.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao, Thach Ha ward (Ha Tinh city) said: "In addition to using electricity for daily activities, my family also runs a grocery business, with equipment such as freezers, refrigerators... To save electricity, my family tries to reduce cooling equipment during peak hours, minimizing the use of many high-capacity electrical appliances at the same time, especially from 11am - 3pm and from 8pm - 11pm".

Along with the efforts of Ha Tinh Electricity Company, the proactiveness of customers in adjusting their electricity usage habits, reducing and maximizing electricity consumption is not only a cost-saving solution for people and businesses but also contributes to helping the electricity industry reduce pressure in providing electricity during the hot season, thereby improving the efficiency of the grid system.
