Get rich from agricultural mechanization services

Báo Kinh tế và Đô thịBáo Kinh tế và Đô thị27/11/2024

Currently, Mr. Hien owns 3 plows and 2 harvesters, worth 1.5 billion VND, a fortune that many farmers admire. Starting his business 10 years ago, at that time, Mr. Chien only had enough money to buy an old Japanese plow.

After a few years, he contacted the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Officer to borrow from the Agricultural Extension Fund, then went to Chinh Dat Company to buy a Kubota tractor and a Kubota harvester. After being approved for a loan from the Agricultural Extension Fund three times to buy two tractors and one harvester, Mr. Hien realized that the advantage of the Agricultural Extension Fund was that there was no fee and the principal was paid back gradually each year.

Also during the loan process, he had the opportunity to meet with the staff of the Me Linh District Agricultural Extension Station (now the Me Linh District Agricultural Service Center). He found that they were all enthusiastic about their work and often visited him, asking about his work as well as the "health" of the machinery.

Mr. Hien said that his family always has 3 workers running the plow, and during harvest season, he has to hire 8 more people to run 2 harvesters. The harvester can only harvest rice, but the plow is very multi-tasking, from cultivating rice fields, fertile soil to flower fields all year round, only resting on rainy days.

If in the past, people rented small plows, had to spend 2 more workers to rake and make ridges, totaling 700,000 VND/sao of land to meet the requirements, now renting his big plows only costs 200 - 300,000 VND/sao, and does not require manual labor, saving costs and time.

“With plowing, it takes 15-20 minutes to complete 1 sao, and with rice harvesting, it takes 5-7 minutes to complete 1 sao. Synchronized mechanization helps both the machine owner and the farmer benefit. Even the machine operator earns 1.2 million VND/day, and the rice harvester earns 700,000 VND/day, 2-3 times more than the normal worker. However, this job requires very harsh work because the weather must be sunny and dry before the harvest can begin, and once done, it must be done continuously, almost without rest due to seasonal pressure,” said Mr. Hien.

Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Me Linh District Nguyen Thi Chinh assessed that compared to borrowing from commercial banks, borrowing from the Hanoi Agricultural Promotion Fund has many advantages. Firstly, in terms of fees, if borrowing to develop production, it is 0.5% per month, paid every 6 months for 2 years, but if borrowing to buy synchronized mechanized machinery, there is no fee, the repayment period is 3 years.

Second, they are always cared for, supported, and supported by agricultural extension officers throughout the entire loan process. These include advice and support on livestock farming techniques to ensure disease safety, good animal growth, where to buy machines to ensure quality, and complete paperwork. These can also include advice, support, and market connections, brand building; especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the transportation system is disrupted, and producers and buyers are separated...
