The fast-paced lifestyle often leads many people to neglect their health. For young people, back pain is a fairly common health problem. If left untreated, this pain can become chronic.

Even though they are young, people in their 20s can still experience back pain, even chronic pain, due to various causes.

Back pain is considered chronic if it lasts for more than 3 months. Once you have chronic back pain, the pain may subside for a while but then soon return. Treating chronic back pain is difficult without knowing the root cause. Depending on the cause, doctors will apply the following treatment methods:

Physiotherapy

Experts say that proper exercise is one of the best methods for treating chronic back pain. However, with physiotherapy, patients should only perform exercises under the guidance of a doctor or a trained and licensed spinal specialist. Physiotherapy exercises will be designed to suit each individual case. These exercises mainly focus on posture correction, pain tolerance testing, stretching, increasing flexibility, aerobic exercise, and strengthening core muscle groups.

Adjust your diet.

Many foods can worsen inflammation and pain in the body. Therefore, experts recommend that people experiencing pain avoid foods high in trans fats, refined sugar, and processed foods. Young people with persistent back pain should consult a doctor to determine if their current diet is contributing to the pain. Additionally, maintaining a healthy weight can reduce pressure on the spine and alleviate back pain.

Treatment using appropriate methods

There are many different methods for treating chronic back pain. In addition to physical therapy and medication, doctors may treat it with massage, laser therapy, electrical nerve stimulation, and several other non-surgical spinal treatments.

Increase calcium and vitamin D intake.

Young people may experience bone problems and back pain due to calcium and vitamin D deficiencies. In addition to morning sun exposure, vitamin D can be supplemented through fatty fish, egg yolks, and cheese. Meanwhile, foods rich in calcium include fresh milk, yogurt, leafy green vegetables, and calcium supplements, according to The Times of India.
