Spreading Cham cultural identity in the new era

Meeting of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival.

With the theme “Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham people in the new era”, the festival contributes to promoting the image of Vietnam as a country rich in identity and unified in diversity; demonstrating the attention of the Party and State to the work of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Cham people in the period of integration and sustainable development.

This is also an opportunity to strengthen the great solidarity of ethnic groups, enhance exchanges, cooperation, and mutual development between the Cham people and other ethnic groups in the South Central and Southern regions, especially after the implementation of the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 dated June 12, 2025 of the National Assembly .

The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival was held with many rich and attractive activities: Mass art festival; traditional costume performance; introduction of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals of the Cham ethnic group; display, introduction and promotion of traditional Cham ethnic culture; introduction of handicrafts such as brocade weaving, pottery making along with folk games and traditional sports activities.

Within the framework of the program, there will be a photo exhibition "Cham ethnic people accompanying the country's development"; a thematic exhibition "Cham ethnic cultural characteristics in the cultural community of Vietnamese ethnic groups"; a workshop "Promoting the value of Cham cultural heritage in tourism development" and a community tourism skills demonstration competition...

The opening ceremony of cultural, sports and tourism activities within the framework of the festival took place on the morning of December 5 at April 16 Square, Phan Rang and Dong Hai wards, Khanh Hoa province.

Speaking at the meeting of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival on the morning of November 6, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Steering Committee of the festival, emphasized: The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival was organized solemnly, on a large scale, and reflected the correct theme.

Activities must be linked to political and cultural events of the country, region, and locality and appropriate to the actual situation. The program reflects the cultural identity of the Cham people, highlights the role of cultural subjects, and promotes traditional cultural values with the progressive elements of the times.

The organization of the festival must ensure efficiency, safety, and economy, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the Cham ethnic community; at the same time, contributing to the orientation of preserving Cham ethnic culture associated with tourism development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
