Ms. Huong Giang is currently working at Ninh Binh Provincial Youth Union. With 37 voluntary blood donations, Ms. Giang was honored to be selected as the only representative of the province to attend the Ceremony to honor 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide in 2025 organized by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hanoi .
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang emotionally shared: “Participating in blood donation, I see more and more the important meaning of voluntary blood drops. How many serious illnesses are waiting for volunteers to give them life from meaningful blood drops? Blood can wait for patients, but patients cannot wait for blood, which motivates me to be more active in directly participating in HMTN. From donating blood once a year, I have donated blood regularly twice a year. Up to now, I have donated blood for 16 years with 37 donations. I also want to contribute to spreading this act of kindness in the community.”- Ms. Giang said.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Tu (Gia Vien district) is also one of the active and typical volunteers in the blood donation movement with more than 20 blood donations. Mr. Tu shared that the first time he donated blood was just out of curiosity without much thought. But from that first time, he realized how important blood donation is to save people. From then on, with the belief "A drop of blood given, a life saved", he actively participated in the blood donation movement.
“Just think that while you are still hesitating and wavering because of some vague fears, the patient cannot wait long. They need our blood to sustain their lives. They need our blood to cross the line between life and death. Therefore, do not wait until tomorrow, do not wait until next time, participate in donating blood from today, from this opportunity, so that more patients can be revived,” said Mr. Tu.
In particular, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tu is also a member of the Provincial Rare Blood Group Club. Therefore, his responsibility to the community becomes even greater. Joining the Provincial Rare Blood Group Club, Mr. Tu actively promotes, mobilizes, and calls on people with the same blood group to participate in activities and save lives. The Club also connects with many other rare blood groups across the country to share information and support each other. Whenever there is a call for blood donation, the brothers in the Club do not mind the distance, quickly arranging their work to participate in donating blood to save lives.
The noble acts of Ms. Giang, Mr. Tu and many other outstanding individuals have become a strong source of motivation, spreading humane values in the HMTN movement in particular, and the volunteer movement in the community in general. From there, contributing to building a compassionate and united community.
Along with that, in recent years, the voluntary blood donation movement in the province has received regular attention and direction from Party committees, authorities, and the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation movement at all levels; the support of mass organizations and especially the people. The community's awareness of voluntary blood donation has changed significantly.
Thanks to that, the voluntary blood donation movement has developed extensively from the province to villages, hamlets, and streets, attracting the participation of a large number of volunteers of all ages, genders, and occupations. With the active contribution of volunteers, in the past 5 years, the whole province has organized 135 voluntary blood donation sessions, attracting more than 70,000 registrants, receiving 65,000 units of blood (equivalent to 16,250 liters of whole blood), promptly serving emergency, treatment, and supporting central units and some neighboring provinces.
The goal in 2025 is for localities in the province to mobilize 9,500 units of blood. By the end of May, the whole province had mobilized over 6,000 units of blood. This result puts hope that the "red journey" will continue to reach the finish line early this year.
Mr. Bui Trong Ky, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation, shared: Since the launch of the blood donation movement, many outstanding groups and individuals have emerged in the province, willing to share their blood to help revive the lives of patients. That shows that people's awareness of donating blood to save lives has changed positively, truly becoming a beautiful cultural feature of the community. In the coming time, we hope that all levels and sectors will continue to join hands to mobilize people (from 18-60 years old) to participate in blood donation, reaching 2% of the population, thereby ensuring blood safety (according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization). Blood from the love of the community is the source of life.
