The contest aims to widely disseminate to the young generation basic knowledge about the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people; the glorious tradition of the People's Army, the Vietnam Coast Guard and of the locality in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

At the same time, the contest contributes to popularizing and improving students’ understanding of legal regulations related to Vietnam’s and international seas and islands. Thereby, fostering love for the homeland, national pride and a sense of responsibility in maintaining security, order and safety on the sacred seas and islands of the Fatherland.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Tran Dong - Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Region 3 emphasized that the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" is a useful and healthy playground to help students have more opportunities to learn about Vietnam's sea and islands. At the same time, he hopes that the contest will continue to receive positive responses from students, teachers, parents and the whole society, contributing to spreading the love of sea and islands among the young generation.

Representing the participating students, Nguyen Le Thien Kim (grade 8/11, Vo Van Danh Secondary School) also expressed her joy and pride in participating in the contest. She shared: “The contest helps us better understand the position and role of the sea and islands for the country, while also arousing in us love for our homeland, national pride and a sense of responsibility in protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland”.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the cluster-level competition will be held online, from 10:00 on November 10 to 23:59 on November 14. It is expected that the Organizing Committee will select 100 candidates with the best achievements to participate in the provincial round, held on January 12, 2026.
